Lemon sign but everything else was normal?

Had our ultrasound yesterday (at 20 weeks) and was told that the babys head is lemon shaped. They looked at the spine and the head carefully and didn't find anything odd there. Everything else they saw seemed normal too. I'm obviously freaking out and is googling way to much right now. I stumbeld upon some threads here and they got me a little bit calmer...

But I still wonder if anyone has gotten the same news as me? that everything else was normal except the shape of the head, and it turned out that your baby was fine? No Chiari or SB...

Yes, we went for another ultrasound about 2 weeks later and the head shape is still lemon but still no other signs. No banana sign, the spine and the skin covering looks good and everything else was perfectly normal also. The doc said that the lemon shape is something he would say is a normal variation. What did the doctor tell you about lemon sign? Are you scheduled for another us?

Ah thank you for replying, it sounds like everything is ok for your baby which is great news. I am in tomorrow to a different hospital for another scan. So far I know she has a lemon shaped skull only at the front and back of her skull is normal. They have looked at her spine and that looks normal to. I was called and said that it could be just the way her head is developing or it could be linked to neuro tube defects such as spina bifida so that is why I have to go tomorrow to a more equipped hospital for another US. It’s just so worrying and Google doesn’t help at all but this has made me feel better, thank you!

I know the feeling, Google only made me worry if possibly even more...

What did they say today?

They actually told me today that her head is normal and that from what he was looking at he wasn’t concerned! I’m confused but so relieved!

I'm happy to hear that! The Doc who did our second US said that if he had been the one who first saw it (the lemon shape) he probably wouldnt had brought it up as an issue since it was an isolated find, and very much likely a normal variation. And that was such a huge relief to hear him say that. Good luck to you now and the rest of your journey!

We also had same news as you guys in yesterday US. in anomaly scan everything was normal but now in 9th month baby's head is lemon shaped.!! is it everything normal with your babies ?

Yes, baby is now 4 months old and is perfectly healthy and is developing normally. So I guess that an isolated find of lemon shape doesnt have to mean anything.

I have same problems like others, i am 7 months pregnant last time the doc told me baby's head is lemon shaped but the other thing is normal so he told me that i should follow up. Is there any chance it become normal or it's okay to be born like that? Please tell me
