1/125 risk Edwards/Pateaus-hand hold needed

So got the call from my midwife on Tuesday to say I'm higher risk at 1/125 for Edwards/Pateaus.
Since found out my hormone levels-
Papp-a 0.22
Beta HCG 0.4
NT well within normal range
I'm 35.

My 12 weeks scan was great, nothing untoward seen and baby very wriggly and active. I'm just so worried! Booked for NIPT on Tuesday, guess I just want to hear happy outcomes with similar hormone levels? X

Hi. Hope you are OK. This can be a very scary time. I had a 1 in 9 chance of Edwards and Patau's syndromes (and a 1 in 22 risk of Downs) with my youngest. I had low Papp-A and a 3.5NT measurement. I was 38 and a little bit overweight, which also played a factor in the calculations. All ended up being fine, thankfully. I had a NIPT test and an amniocentesis to be sure so can explain how those went for me if it helps.

Have they said how long you will have to wait for your results?

I found looking at the percentages comforting. 1 in 125 is a 0.8% chance of there being something wrong, so the odds really are in your favour. I know it will be hard to think like that right now though.

Please try to talk through your feelings. It will help in the long run. x

I had a normal NT, HCG of 0.3 and PAPP A of 0.5. Very healthy looking baby and it was all fine. I now have a 3 month old baby boy boy who passed every test with flying colours. We had a NIPT as I was worried.

I have also had a Edwards baby, who looked very poorly on ultrasound and had an NT of 4.9.

Good luck, I know it is a worrying time. X
