Why would I be given an appointment with the consultant team?

Hi, I’m currently 15 weeks.

ive had scans at 8, 12, and 15 weeks (two were private) and everything looked great.

however I’ve randomly been booked an appointment at the hospital with the consultant team. They’ve given zero context and I’m a bit scared.
I have a normal BMI and no previous pregnancy or births.

could anyone give an insight into why they may want to see me? Good or bad

thanks

Do you have any other medical conditions?

PermanentlyTired03 · 11/06/2022 11:24

Have you got any other health problems or conditions? If not, I'd call as it could be a mistake.

Dominuse · 11/06/2022 11:25

What history and medical
conditions do you currently have or have had in the past?

what medication if any are you on

Hugasauras · 11/06/2022 11:26

Do you have any condition that makes anaesthesia potentially difficult?

sbeezy · 11/06/2022 11:26

I have no medical conditions except anxiety, I have been taking citalopram and occasional propranolol for them however this was cleared by my doctor
do you think that could be it?

Through pregnancy existing anxiety or mental health issues can come back. Your consultation will just be to make sure you feel supported. Its not a bad thing, they will just want to ensure you have a happy pregnancy and should your anxiety come back you are already supported.

Please Don't worry about being offered a consultant appointment. Anyone with any long term condition can be offered an initial appointment then the consultant can decide if they need to be involved further or if they are happy for you to be midwife led.

Anxiety sometimes gets worse in pregnancy so the consultant may be able to arrange further support from the Perinatal mental health team if it is needed.

Sorry. It is current anxiety. Yeah. They will just want to make sure you are supported.

Could it be age?

I'm under a consultation for 3 factors

Ivf
Age (39)
Thyroid issues

Give your midwife a call she will be able to see the reason for referral on your notes. It will most likely be your midwife that's referred you.
