1 in 2 chance for DS, high HCG

Just that really.
Got a call yesterday to say we were given a 1 in 2 chance of DS in baby.
I am 14w tomorrow.

Age: 37
NT: 2.2mm
bHCG: 6.4 MoM
Paap-A: 0.39

I know no-one can tell me it'll be OK, or otherwise. I have a CVS booked for Thursday as I want to know what is going on ASAP and I don't want to wait for the amnio in another week.

I am particularly confused by, if this turns out not to be DS, why my HCG is so high. I can't find many online examples where it's this high?

But if anyone has any similar stories, with any outcome, I'd appreciate them.

I just sending you a virtual hug. I had a 1:2 result for DS in 2020 and I can still remember the way the sonogrsphers whole body language changed when she calculated my risk. The wait for results was horrible so I really do feel for you.

My results were not because of HCG though mine were low Paap A and a 3.9 nuchal fold.

I had a CVS and my results can back clear. My baby girl was born in October 2020 happy and healthy (although 5 weeks early).

Just another note to say the CVS was really fine. You get to see baby again on the scan and it's over so quickly I honestly hardly
Felt it. I'm terrified of needles and due to covid has fo go by myself I was an absolute mess but it was much much better than I thought it would be.
Xx

Also sending you hugs ❤️ we had a 1 in 4 chance of DS with our youngest - the main reason for ours was a high nuchal measurement (4.7mm) but my bloods were a bit off too. It was torturous waiting for the results (I had an amnio as they couldn’t do a CVS due to placenta location, that couldn’t be done until 15/16 weeks) - but all tests came back clear and he arrived safely and will be 2 next month.

You will find the strength to get through this time - thinking of you Xx

I have a child with DS if you've any questions.

Well I had my CVS this morning. Consultant also did a detailed scan before the test and found baby has hydrops, likely has a heart defect and the face looks flat/malformed. So all in all it’s not looking very promising at the moment.
We are expecting the early CVS results on Monday.

In case anyone stumbles onto this thread in the future and wonders how it all turned out. I have had confirmation of a Downs Syndrome diagnosis for baby.

@bbnotwo thanks for updating. I'm in a slightly similar spot. 1:2 chance of trisomy 18 and fluid in the lungs and very high NT
