Hospital still not booking scan 12+4 today

I'm 12+4 today and have been on phone to the hospital few times in the last 2 weeks about not having an appointment for dating scan & consultant appointment (previous issues).

They told me at 11 weeks that they're currently scanning around 13.5 weeks which I have no problem with, but I told them that was less than 2 weeks away and I would need notice in order to take time off work and arrange childcare.

Fast forward to today at 12+4 and again I've been told the same information, that there are 'no scans available yet and we'll call you when there is, you should hear by Monday (I'll be 13+2 then!)' to which I replied 'this is going to be giving me DAYS notice and I likely won't be able to arrange childcare or time off work at such short notice, I'll have to bring my son with me'

I was given a really snotty response about how they won't allow my son in for the scan, and how everyone's getting a few days notice at the moment.

Surely this can't be the norm? With my previous pregnancy I was given 3 weeks notice and I measured a week ahead at the scan so was 1 day away from the cut off period for the combined screening.

This is north east UK at a very well known hospital.

Not great is it !! Can you move hospitals?

work have to give you the time off anyway even if it’s short notice so you’ll just have to so that I guess

what childcare do you usually have for your son?

@Fupoffyagrasshole Not ideal 😣 I’ve not had any problems with this hospital in the past and it’s much closer than the alternative, it’s rated better too so although it’s crossed my mind to change I’d rather stick. Just shocked at the lack of understanding that people can’t drop everything at the last second.
The only childcare I have (Mon-Fri daytime hours) is my MIL on a Monday and my grandma other times but she is a very busy body so I don’t want to burden her last minute as she’s often got appointments herself. She’s my childcare on Thursdays but the lady on the phone made it clear they aren’t performing any scans on bank holiday next week.

Ugh I hear you hospital I had my daughter in was 10 mins down the road and it was amazing to be so close when I had a few scares with reduced movements and I could pop in easily - so totally get why you wouldn’t go to another one!!

I guess just see what they offer and do your best to get childcare sorted - i wouldn’t worry about work - they have to let you go to these appointments!

Also in the north east, and im going through Sunderland. I told my midwife i had to be seen at 12 weeks as i had spoken to my consultant from my stillbirth last year and they said make sure its booked in for 12 weeks so i can be seen by a consultant at 13 weeks. Im 7 weeks now and already have a date for my 12 week scan. Is it worth speaking to the consultant you saw last time? They might be able to get the ball rolling for you? X

For the nuchal scan you need before 14 weeks. Hopefully you’ll get it. But I know that some trusts may not even provide that now. What about private is it an option.

I’m similar - haven’t heard about mine yet. The midwife at my GPs is chasing it too, but it’s def a bit worrying. I spoke to EPU who said to call them and make an appt if it got to 12w6 with nothing.

I'm 12+4 too and have known my appointment for a week or so now. It's set for 13+1. Apparently there is a bit of a baby boom atm, but I agree it seems unreasonable to give you such short notice, and be so close to the screen cut off. No real advice, just sympathy!
