High NT measurement normal bloods 1:80 DS risk

I’m now 14 weeks along. At 12+4 I had my NT scan. Everything looked perfect except I noticed that the nuchal fold did look a big bigger. Got my results a week later they are:
NT - 2.9 (she did measure 3.1 but it’s been averaged at 2.9
HGC - 0.55
Papp-a 0.889
Being 40 I got a 1:80 chance of DS and low risk for the others. I have 5 children all very healthy nothing wrong in any of their pregnancies or births.
I’ve had an app with the early pregnancy center at the hospital and we’ve decided on doing an amnio as they said the NIPT test is not diagnostic and being that I’m so high risk the amnio will be better. That’s booked for next week when I’m 15 weeks.

I’ve been in a world of worry since the results. I guess I would love some feedback or just words of advice. I don’t know where to turn.

I will add that the doctor said my bloods are fine and not worrying them at all. She said they’re in the normal range. I guess it’s my age and NT measurement that got me such a bad score. I’ll try attach a pic of the scan

Hi OP have you had the amnio now?

I had an NT measurement of 3.6 and 1/26 chance of DS. I opted for the NIPT because that's what was suggested to me but the pro of the amnio is it is a diagnostic test and tests for lots of things.

I hope it all goes well for you xx

I thought 3.5mm was the cut off for high risk NT? I don’t think yours is high…
Fwiw I had a 1:36 risk of downs. Had the nipt which came back low risk. Ds is 2 next week and perfectly healthy.

Update: I had the amnio today at 15 weeks exactly. The scan beforehand was perfect. The fetal specialist checked everything she possibly could. Heart was perfect. All other organs were perfect. Baby has grown well and is now 2 days ahead. She thought my bloods were fine but it was my age and nuchal of 2.9 that gave me bad results. Rather unsettling that we got 1:80 just from that. But we decided to still go ahead with the amnio after all the anxiety and worry. We need diagnostic results rather than screening results. It was no where near as bad as I thought it would be. Initial prick was a tiny pain. Taking Bloods hurts worse IMO. I have to wait 10 working days for my results but I do feel so much more positive after seeing all was well today. And the doctor seemed to think that I’d most likely get the all clear once results come back. I can’t tell you the worry and fear we felt the last 3 weeks

You had a 98.75% that your baby did not have DS , not sure why you considered that high risk.

Jupiter92 · 14/04/2022 19:42

@MyDcAreMarvel@my The hospital have told her she’s high risk as anything under 150 is considered that.

It’s great you’re giving a more positive view though and it is important to remember that even though it sounds high, when you put it in percentages it’s not. That helped me when I was high risk with 1/26.

Hi Jupiter yes it’s the pressure and worry that the doctors were pushing onto us that really created the worry and fear.
But yes putting it into % terms it does seem like very low chance of anything being wrong. I just pray the results are all good and clear then I can finally enjoy and relax for the pregnancy. And finally announce it too!
