High NT

We went for our 12 week scan on Tuesday (13+2) and were told that our baby has a high NT of 4.9mm. Straight away they referred us to a consultant. Had a call yesterday to say I now have a consultant scan appointment in 3 weeks time. This seems so long away surely if NIPT or CVS is needed it should be sooner?
Has anyone had any experience with this and could possibly help with timescales/what happens next?

I hope the amniocentesis appointment goes well today, you shouldn't have to wait too long for the results after.

@Cantchoosename @yourestandingonmyneck @MrsElijahMikaelson1 @jmm499 @Babylird22 Thank you for all the well wishes. The amniocentesis has confirmed that baby has Down's syndrome but also heart problems (pulmonary stenosis), futile build up on the neck (which could lead to breathing problems) and that some of the membranes around the baby are not attached. Consultant is ringing us tonight to discuss options x

Thank you everyone. After speaking to the consultant we are not continuing with the pregnancy. Due to the cystic hygroma and heart issues baby was given a 10% chance of making it to 26weeks. It's my birthday tomorrow so instead of giving birth then we are going in on Monday. 💔
