Is there still a risk of downs even with a small NT?

Hi all,
I had the NT scan today and measurement was 1.0mm (at 11 + 3) sonographer said this was good. Now waiting for bloods…. I’m 41 years old so was expecting a higher result. Wondering if Anyone still had a high risk result even with a v small NT measurement?

Yes

A in your 20s the risk can be like 1 in 1000.

By 40 it's like 1 in 100. So even with low NT there's an increased risk.

I imagine so otherwise they wouldn’t routinely do bloods unless the NT measurement was at the higher end however it’s obviously a very good sign.

I don’t know what weighting the various strands of the combined test (NT, age and bloods) are given…I’d imagine that the bloods and NT rating have the biggest proportion, but no idea if it’s enough to outweigh age. Do go with a NIPT if you want a more accurate answer. I’m 39 with a daughter with DS (with whom I was ironically given a chance of 1:1,900 of her having DS) and I know if I’m ever pregnant again I’d be going straight to the NIPT, as I think my age and history would over-emphasise my chance…
