I had my 12 week scan yesterday, all was good baby measuring bang on dates, healthy heartbeat, no abnormalities, NT of 2.1. The sonographer was laughing and joking throughout and commented on how active baby was.

Then when she went to the computer screen her demeanour completely changed and she said i'm sorry to inform you that you have a 1 in 9 chance of T18

It was all a bit of a blur and we were whisked off to a private room where we were handed some leaflets and 'counselled' into what we wanted to do next.

It was repeated that my scan was fine showing no abnormalities but my blood tests had come back low.
Papp a 0.25 and HCG 0.27

We opted for a NIPT test and now have to wait 5-10 working days for the results.

I will be 41 when baby is born and I have 2 other children with no underlying health conditions in me or them

I guess i'm just looking for reassurance from anyone else who had really low blood results?

Not me, but my friend had high risk of downs, 1 in 3. Her baby doesn't have downs. 1 in 9
Is still 1in 8 that the baby will be fine xx

Wait for nipt.
Bear in mind there are other genetic syndromes which are not trisomies like tiny deletions in chromosome
Nipt can look wider than the three trisomies

Update: my NIPT test came back very low risk for all 3 trisomies

@mumofgirls12 congratulations! I hope that has put your mind at rest. Age skews the nhs screening quite a bit. Good luck with your pregnancy x
