NT measurement 4.3mm - really worried!

Hi all. I’m worried sick and need some support/reassurance/suggestions to help me out. So during my 12 week dating scan the baby’s NT measured 3.6mm and was referred to fetal medicine unit for further testing. During my scan today at fetal medicine the NT measurement had increased to 4.3mm (within the space of a week) and they also found a pocket of fluid at the back of the baby’s left side of neck. I can’t stop crying and am worried sick that’s there’s something wrong with the baby. Has anyone else experienced this and have any stories to share (good or bad)? Everything I’ve read online so far is leading me to next to no hope and fear I’ll lose my baby!

Hi @Rhiannon1906 for you, it’s really stressful isn’t it? Please don’t lose hope. Our son had 4.7mm NT at his 12 week scan and also had a pocket of fluid seen at the side of the neck. He arrived safe and well last summer after clearing all the various tests. We were told it was just one of those things. So it can be ok. Incredibly stressful though :( Have you had any further testing done through fetal medicine? Thinking of you Xx

Thanks @jmm499 it’s so reassuring to hear that there is some hope! I’ve been so oblivious to how stressful and upsetting it can all be.. especially as my first pregnancy went so smoothly. Yes, I should have mentioned I had the combined test at 12 weeks and my results were 1/520 for downs and 1/10000 for Edwards’s & Patau’s so we were feeling quite relieved at first! But then when they rescanned us at fetal medicine and the NT had increased etc we lost hope again! I’ve opted for an amnio in 2 weeks but again so worried about causing miscarriage when the baby may be totally fine?! I’m feeling so stressed and confused x
