No fetal pole? Really worried

Hello ladies, my last period was on the 21st March. Me and partner had sex on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th april. I thought I was around 6 weeks by now. I started having lower left side pain and light pink bleeding. My doctor was worried about ectopic pregnancy so sent me to hospital. The hospital did an internal exam (which made me bleed even more afterwards) and they told me the earliest I could get a scan is on the 5th May. I was still having the pain and some light bleeding so I booked a private scan on sunday which showed it's in the right place. When I went I thought I was 6 weeks calculated from my LMP. I feel like they were rude and the sonographer asked me if I'm sure about my dates. All she could see was a gestational sac and yolk sac, she told me I'm around 5 weeks not 6. There was no fetal pole visable. She told me the gestational sac measured 7.2mm and she told me that I'm less than 5 weeks because 5 weeks is 10mm. I've looked online which says that 6 weeks is 10mm and 5 weeks is 6mm. She has wrote on the report that gestational sac measured 7.2mm and I am less than 5 weeks pregnant. I'm really confused and scared that something is wrong and I'm now waiting for my hospital ultrasound on Wednesday. I'm just terrified of them not finding a fetal pole.

Early scans are a nightmare. Maybe you ovulated later than your thought?

It can take a while for the egg to implant into your womb after ovulation, perhaps this is the reason for the discrepancy?

I had a scan at what should have been 6 + 3 based on my dates due to bleeding and pain but the sonographer couldn’t see the fetal pole, just the yolk sac. Based on later dating scans I either ovulated later than I realised or the embryo took longer to implant as I would have been closer to 4.5-5 weeks at the time of the first scan.

Invisible fetal pole is now a beautiful 6 month old baby girl who is taking a nap on me. All the best, I hope the bleeding stops soon.

@Crikeycroc thank you, it's great to hear such positive news. I had another scan at the hospital yesterday and still no fetal pole but they said tis too early and to go back in 10 days. It's going to be a very long 10 days x
