Hello everyone,

I am 18 week pregnant, I had my NT scan and blood work in first trimester and reports were okay, 1/2400 chances of DS and very low for other chromosome issues too. I got blood test done in second trimester and got DS risk 1/13. I am 29 yr old. Very worried... did NIPT test waiting for result now. Any word of advice?

Thanks,
Ana

No advise but I’ve been there. It’s a nerve wracking wait. Try not to think about your “options” as you’ll just make yourself unwell with anxiety. When do you get your results? I really feel for you.. is it your first?

Anugai · 23/04/2021 23:22

I got this news on 20th.. yes it’s our first baby. I am just hoping to get low risk in NIPT. Is there anything else we can do to know more while waiting for results?

Did you do any further testing?

Have you had the NIPT yet? You could research more but we didn’t. The more you research at this stage the more you will worry. I would suggest you wait until you know either way before you start Googling things as everything may be absolutely fine.

The NIPT is 99% accurate so we didn’t do any further tests. We were very fortunate that it all came back well
and he's now nearly 2.

I am so sorry you are going through this @Anugai. I hope your NIPT results come through quickly.

The Arc website is really good for information, plus there is a helpline of you want to talk through the whole situation with someone. www.arc-uk.org/

If you don’t mind me asking, why did you have to have a second blood test? This is really worrying! I wish you lots of luck, remember you still have less than a 10% chance.

Anugai · 24/04/2021 18:53

Screening blood test gives just the probability, it does state anything for sure. NIPT is the next step blood test with 99% accuracy.

@Anugai
Do you know what your hormone levels were that gave you this result?
I had a 1:4 chance, everything came back normal.
Thinking of you.

Seahawk80 · 04/05/2021 17:37

Thinking of you while you wait. I had this exact result with my son and then NIPT was clear and he's fine. Good luck x

Glad to hear it @Anugai. Hope you are OK. x

Hello! So glad to hear your results have come back ok! ❤️

Can I ask why they tested your blood again at 18 weeks? Your results are the same as mine from the 12 week screening tests and I haven't been offered a blood test to check anything further?
