High risk screening from blood results

Hi
Just wondering if anyone has any advice or can share their experiences?
I’m 28 with my first pregnancy. Had my 12 week scan last week, all was fine and the NT measured 1.5mm which I think is fine?
Had a phone call yesterday where they have placed me high risk of both downs and edwards\pataus. I’m really worried because she said it’s unusual to be high risk for both.

It’s placed me 1:18 in for downs and 1:26 for edwards/pataus. I’m worried sick and waiting for a phone call today to arrange the cvs sampling.

I’m assuming my risk is so high based purely on my bloody results although she said a 1.5mm is slightly low?
Think I’m confused as she said my hcg was fine but it was my low Papp A which was the issue.

Thanks in advance! X

No advice sorry just wondered how you are feeling after the phone call today? Thanks

Hi @jessi60

Just wanted to comment as you commented on my post at the beginning of my pregnancy to be there for me so wanted to be here for you Flowers

I am sorry about your news. Have you thought about a NIPT test? I’ve read lots of women who have had a high screening result from NHS and then NIPT test and it’s come back much lower risk. I’ve had a NIPT test before NHS one because I was worried about the NHS result, we are similar ages.

Just wanted to send my love xxx

Hi @BunnyRuddington and @Greeneyesbiglashes thanks for replying.

Basically the problem is my Papp A. It’s really low at only 0.08 so that doesn’t seem good at all.
Got the test tomorrow at 10:30am!

I was going to get the NIPt test but I’ll get quicker results with the test tomorrow athough there is the small risk of miscarriage.

I’ll keep yous updated.

Thanks again xxx

I've been there so sending hand holds your way. Following my 12 week scan last year I skipped out of the hospital armed with my scan picture all looking fine. Then received the dreaded phonecall to say I had a 1 in 13 chance of my son being born with downs syndrome. My pappa was also low (though not as low as yours at 0.37). We opted for NIPT and all was fine. I wasn't quite prepared for the rollercoaster of emotions that came with it so take each day at a time. As you're Nuchal measurement it's absolutely fine you're likely to be clear of abnormalities but you'll probably be offered growth scans as low papp a may indicate the placenta not working as well as it should. I took aspirin throughout pregnancy to maximise oxygen flow and had a more in depth scan to look at the functioning of the placenta, plus growth scans throughout. I was constantly told that my baby was going to be small which completely freaked me out but he was born in June at 7lbs 8oz, so bang on average. Having low pappa is a pain in the neck as it means additional monitoring but it doesn't have to mean anything is untoward.

Hi OP I was 1/15 with a normal NT by low papp-A of 0.2. CVS came back clear, DD is 6 now 😀

Hi everyone thanks for your support. My cvs came back negative! So pleased !! Doesn’t feel real to be honest.

I’m waiting for someone to contact me about my low Papp A, I’m trying to stay away from reading too much about it as it’s very low but they mentioned aspirin and more scans etc, just got to try and take it a step at a time but this was the first hurdle to get over ❤️ Xxx

@jessi60

I had aspirin and extra scans, DD was born a week late at 8 pounds :) She's now very bright, healthy and tall!

Hi @jessi60 I was thinking about you today as I was in the hospital for my 12 week scan. I’m so pleased that it all came back negative. Wishing you the best pregnancy xxx
