High risk for Edwards, Patau's and Down's syndromes

I had a call from the screening team at the hospital today to say I have a 1 in 22 chance of Downs and a 1 in 9 chance of Edwards and Patau's syndrome.

I am scared stiff. I have opted to have a CVS. Can anyone tell me what to expect or offer me any reassurances. The statistics are feeling very overwhelming at the moment.

I had a missed miscarriage in Oct 2019 and this is our first pregnancy since, so this is playing on my mind. I also have a 4 year old.

Ps. Sorry you are in this situation. I read something about sometimes then not being able to tell your DNA from the baby's which is why it comes back as inconclusive. Any lab errors would likely also be classed that way too. Hopefully they will have more luck with your next sample.

Thank you @Mummy2O . I did read that sometimes samples can be contaminated so I'm hoping that was the problem! Who knew there would be SO many things to worry about with all this?!
I just want the amnio done at this point! Anything but another couple of weeks of anxious waiting!!

@Southsea34
Sorry to hear that you are going through this hard experience, but please try to be patient, don't forget that the amnio carries a risk of miscarriage, it's 1 to 2 % but still it is a risk and you don't want to put a healthy baby at risk. Be patient and stay positive, you will get good news and forget about all this days.
I wish you good luck from the bottom of my heart xx

Me again,

I have good news! After the worst 2 weeks of my life, my NIPT results came back today all clear of all 3 syndromes, with odds changing from 1/11 to 1/10,000!

Also, I'm having a boy!

Thanks to all of those who offered advice and support in this thread. These happy stories are what have kept me going.

Good luck to anyone going through a similar situation, it's horrendous but there is hope!

xxx

I just wanted to give a quick update here. I gave birth to our wonderful little boy last week. He was worth all the stress.
