Blood test: Toxoplasmosis - Reactive

Hi Mumsnet,

I'm quite worried as had bloods taken for something they found on the scan 3 weeks ago, chased for the results and they said they had come back but it is reactive for Toxoplasmosis, so been sent for further testing. The results should come back in 3 weeks which seems forever away (were sent about 3 weeks ago).

Anyone had this? I just want my baby to be ok and blaming myself. I don't eat meat so can't come from undercooked meat and wfh, I don't have a cat and I always wash my fruit and veggies 😓

That must be so stressful. Have you seen the Tommys page? that has lots of information and says there are a small amount of false positives.

It must seem like a long time to wait. Flowers

And also never blame yourself! It’s not your fault.

Thanks @Gunpowder I didn't know about Tommy's but been bawling my eyes out. The stat: "It's estimated that only 1 in 10,000 babies is born with toxoplasmosis in the UK." does help but I always think: someone's got to be that 1/10k.

You poor thing. It’s really easy to imagine the worst and it’s also really horrible not knowing. The Arc helpline were so kind and helpful to me when I was pregnant and testing threw up some stuff. My questions were about genetic conditions but I think they cover everything. It might help to talk to them about it.
