Hey, just looking for anyone with a similar story they can share with me. I had 2 Mc at the end of last year, so falling pregnant again I naively just thought if I get to the 12 week scan and the baby is alive everything will be fine. I was absolutely shocked/scunnered to find out the baby had a Nt of 5mm, fast forward to now 4 weeks later and all of the results came back clear which was a massive relief but I am now so anxious about the 16 week scan I am getting on Wednesday and what they might find! The consultant did tell me that if the cvs was clear then there was about 80% chance the baby would be healthy on the scan but I still can’t help but feel extremely anxious about it.

I was just looking to see if anyone had any similar stories they could share with me? Xx

No similar experience, try to stay positive before your scan 80% is good odds that all will be ok. I'd be worried too, but there isn't much you can do but hope all is ok.

Bumping for you OP. Hopefully some others will be alone soon

My second pregnancy had an Nt of 4.4 at the 12 week scan. CVS was clear and subsequent heart scans also clear. Anomaly scan at 20 weeks clear too and DD is now a happy healthy 6 year old. We never knew what caused the high Nt.
I remember that feeling of anxiety so well OP and I really hope you get good news at your scan.

Thank you so much for your replies and glad everything worked out for you and your little girl, fingers crossed I have the same outcome! I will post an update tomorrow after my scan xxx

I thought a fine CVS meant the baby was fine? (I had one 7 years ago) and remember that was the 'all clear' sign.
It's ruled out any chromosomal abnormalities on a cellular level.
(Obviously I'm not saying your dr is wrong, just my experience which may well be outdated now)

LANx · 01/12/2020 23:16

@lovelilies the consultant said if the cvs was clear they then need to look at the baby’s structure as that could be also causing a high nt, for example a minor or major heart defect! So that’s what they will be checking for tomorrow just praying the baby looks healthy on the scan! Xxxx

I had no visible nasal bone and higher NT on my 12 week scan, so was told at that point one twin was at high risk for an issue.

I had CVS done an all was clear. My doctor was confident at that point that subsequent scans and the fetal echo should not find anything, and so far both have been clear. The doctor was always more cautions, especially with the first scan in regards to outcome and expectations, so hopefully they generally air on being more cautious and the 80% sounds positive.

Wishing you lots of luck, i know how stressful the wait is, and before you know more than half the pregnancy has gone with worry x

Seahawk80 · 02/12/2020 17:14

My heart goes out to you - I hate that wait for CVS results. I've had 3 but the bad news was always picked up at the CVS results. DS who was thank God my first got the all clear and all other scans were fine. He's now a 3.5 year old who runs me ragged! I hope all goes well for you and hopefully the consultant is just being cautious.

LANx · 02/12/2020 23:59

Hello @Simz01 @Seahawk80 thank you for lovely messages, it always helps to know I’m not the only person to go through this. So glad everything turned out ok for you both!

I had the scan today and they said the baby looked as healthy as we could hope for and see in detail at 16 weeks, will have another scan at 20 weeks to go over everything again but the consultant said from what she could see all measurements looked perfect and she was really happy with the scan! Feel such a massive sense of relief and although I still have the 20 week scan to go, Although the worry will never go away until i have my baby in my arms but I now feel like I can slowly but surely now start to relax! Xxx

Oh that is good news @LANx. You've been in my thoughts. It was this time of year for me too.
With every scan that looks good the odds get more and more positive (although as others have said the specialists will always err on the side of caution).
All the very best for the rest of your pregnancy.

S83M · 04/12/2020 03:52

Hi LANx, so glad your results came back all good. I had my 12 week scan today and NT is 6.1mm I am really not hopeful. I now have a wait of God knows how long for a consultant scan and CVS. Did you wait long from 12 week scan to CVS? X

Jessie5 · 04/12/2020 20:14

My DS had an NT of 4.1, we had the harmony test which came back clear as did the 16 and 20 week scans, didn’t stop me worrying at the time, he is 2 now and all was fine, best of luck with everything it is a stressful time 😘💗

S83M · 04/12/2020 21:04

Hi Jessie5 did you have the CVS or just the bloods and scans? I am booked in for CVS on Tuesday and really do but want to go through with it. The 3 midwives and sonographers I have spoken to have all been so negative is it routine that they have to be cautious? I hope so. X

Jessie5 · 04/12/2020 21:48

Hi, we had the combined screening, then opted for the harmony test privately, we then had a heart scan at 16 weeks. We weren’t offered the cvs as the harmony came back as low risk. I would recommend contacting the charity arc too as they were v helpful when we we were discussing our options, they may be able to offer some more support and advice with having the cvs www.arc-uk.org/ xx

LANx · 05/12/2020 11:43

@Leelaseye thank you so much! Definitely feeling more positive after that scan going really well so hopefully everything turns out ok! Xx

@Jessie5 thank you for leaving a positive story, so glad everything worked out for you, really hoping my 20 week scan goes well too and we have the same outcome as you! Xx

@S83M hello lovely, my heart really goes out to you! I know exactly how you feel everything was really negative at my 12 week scan they didn’t even tell me the gestational age or due date, I felt like they had just wrote my pregnancy off there and then! The hospital i am in has a fetal medicine unit and luckily I was referred through straight after my scan, although the consultant was really nice she was definitely on the side of caution, I never want to hear the phrase ‘not compatible with life’ ever again! I was lucky and had the cvs test about 2 hours after my scan, I had to know for definite what we were dealing with so I just went for it there was no question in my mind! I don’t want to give you false hope I know everyone’s situation is different but please try and stay positive (easier said than some believe me I know) I had completely wrote my pregnancy off that day but all my cvs test results came back clear and I just had a 16 week scan were the baby looked healthy and the fluid had resolved itself! All hope is not lost, hope you are ok! Xx
