Evidence of Downs harmony test

Hi has anyone had a false positive? Looking for some hope...

Hi Ssandy52, I had my harmony test back today and I’m with you on praying for a false positive, our little boy had been diagnosed with downs. We had the cvs test today so now have to wait for that to confirm. My thoughts are with you and I pray for both of us that a false positive is possible x

I read a lot about harmony and there is quite a lot test that says baby is ill and then it is all ok.Someone said Harmony use old technology,do you know how much fetal fraction you had?I could not get result from harmony in 18 weeks of pregnancy,I will never use Nipt test especially harmony again,I would not trust it

@ Anja05 they got ten percent for me and as I’m old - 42- it’s rare for there to be false positives but there can be false positives if placenta DNA is different from baby. I think it’s more reliable for DS than other things.

Hi @Ssandy52 sorry you’re going through such a lot of stress and good luck for your amino, but please try not to worry. Having a baby with Down’s syndrome is a slightly different journey but it’s an amazing one. My superstar with an extra chromosome is now 5 and having a whale of a time in mainstream school. Yes I don’t mind the Down syndrome aspect but I am a neurotic person and had an ectopic earlier this year so I’m worried the Downs aspect may result in health issues or miscarriage after amnio or anyway or still birth.
To have the baby girl and she be healthy but have Down’s syndrome would be an amazing outcome. I have 3 boys so the fact she is a pink baby is keeping me going (no offence to them of course!)

Hi @Iknowblackcatsarelucky good thank you. Had appt with screening nurse. She said everyone she has dealt with who had the positive NIPT went on to have a baby with DS so that was good for hubby to hear as he was a little bit in denial. Scan booked for 4th Jan. how are you?

@Ssandy52 I’m absolutely fine thank you. Sounds like you’re coping really well. I have my scan on 31 Dec and although I was lucky with the NIPT I will still be glad when that’s over.
Hopefully your scan will give you positive news x

My nephew was supposed to have downs. Every test said he was sure to have it and the hospitals were so certain about it
we all expected it so when he was born it was just utter shock he was perfectly fine!
He's now 13 and a talk big footed angel lol either way he would of been loved though
