Hi ladies . I had my 20 week scan and babies abdomen is at the low end of normal. I freaking out as it's still so early. Have been referred to fetal clinic for another scan etc but has any one else had this so early on. The scanner lady didn't really say much and just said they will look again at next scan .

Hello, I'm just wondering if you wouldn't mind sharing the outcome? Did baby catch up in the end? They said the exact same thing to me at the 20 week scan yesterday and trying not to worry myself sick! x

Long answer .
We had to wait until she was 500grams around 25 weeks until drs could class as viable and intervene. Longest 5 weeks ever.i never felt kicks as placent was at front as well. At 25 weeks I was getting dopplers and heart monitoring to check if she was OK every 2 days. At 28 weeks my BP went hight and was in hospital under supervision and meds to keep bp low. 7 weeks In hospital 😐😆netflix and Roaming the halls. Not bedrest just bp was checked and meds tweaked every 4 hours as risk of stroke becomes high but was allowed out for walks and home for a few hours. At 35 weeks bp became uncontrollable and my body started "my words" feeling like death. So she was delivered. I was in a icu for 2 days for risk of stroke but felt OK. Lots of meds but was up and about 10 hours after c section. She was 1.6kg size of 28 week fetus but perfect 🥰
She spent 7 weeks in nicu until she hit 2.5kg. And tube fed until prob 3 months old as just didn't have any interest in milk or drinking. It was painful as she wasn't even on growth charts. My best friend is a nurse and Said as long as she's growing don't get bogged down by charts . Solids were advised at 4 months and she was off. She's still tiny and behind in milestones maybe 4 to 6 months behind her birth date but it's great I'm really enjoying her in clothes longer. If IUGR is your diagnosis the body is amazing it diverts everything to baby brain so it gets o2 everything else I was told doesn't matter. It's awful to see on scans baby with no food in tummy but it's the brain that matters everything else will catch up after birth. My partner and I are short so she's probably never going to be tall 🤣 but she's so delicious. Just take it day by day. Drs are amazing and babies are super resilant. Even now I can't believe she's real and she's 2 years old . Wishing you all the good vibes everything will be fine .
