Awaiting NIPT results

I had a NIPT blood test today after I received a 1 in 63 chance of baby having DS.
My results for the initial combined blood tests were:

HCG 197ml
PAPP-A 2368 L
NT 2.1 mm

I'm 28, this is our first pregnancy, no risk in terms of my physical health.

Don't know how to feel or what the initial results actually mean?! Has anyone been through a similar situation and have positive stories to share? NIPT results are due back Wednesday/Thursday. Praying for happy news.

@Sunflower1492 I’ve got the headache from hell, I had a feeling today might be the day but it was only sent on Monday.

I dream about baby every night, last night I dreamt I felt baby kick really hard. It’s like baby is telling me something.

I feel baby move a lot as it is, it’s a lovely feeling xx

How for along are you? I’m really superstitious and would take that as a sign as baby is letting you know all is going to be ok. Try and stay positive I know it’s easier said than done. Xx

@Sunflower1492 I’m 14+3 days. I’m praying you’re right, I hope this worry and anxiety is over nothing. But it’s so difficult to be positive when the midwives fill your head with so much bad information.

How are you both feeling after getting your news? Sunk in yet?xx

I had the NIPT a year back in February after having a 1 in 11 chance something was wrong with the 12 weeks scan/tests. Had to wait 10 agonising days. We had previously lost a baby at 14.5 weeks and I hadn't been very well so it was just a horrendous time. The NIPT came back that everything was fine. Then the 20 week scan looked fine. Our boy was born in August last year and he is a thriving, happy, healthy boy. His older sister (4) is besotted with him. I can't remember all my numbers from the tests but I do know the agony of waiting and hoping. Good luck.

I completely agree I did not find the midwives positive or reassuring at all. Have you asked to speak to a screening midwife? They specialise in dealing with these tests, when I finally spoke to one she was amazing and really helpful.
I hope so too, sorry to ask again but is it Tuesday you’re hoping your results will be back?
It’s just a feeling of pure relief, we’ve both been exhausted with worry. I still want to ask questions about what the low papp-a and increased HCG means for our baby but I’m letting myself relax a little bit first before I contact them again xxx

@Merryhobnobs stories like yours inspire me!!

@Sunflower1492 they’ve said Tuesday at the earliest so I’m keeping everything crossed for that day. I’m taking that day off work, I feel sick at the thought of that day approaching.

@JennyMY am in a similar position. Am pregnant with fraternal twins. One twin showed higher NT and absent nasal bone, so doctor put us a higher risk for abnormalities. Did the harmony test and it came back inconclusive due to not enough fetal DNA - not sure why as I am actually slightly under for BMI and generally small (5ft). We opted for the CVS test - it wasnt too bad x

@Sussexbysea thinking of you today, sending you all my love and best wishes. I hope you get your results and don't have to wait any longer.

Hope you're okay xxx

@Sussexbysea great news ! Hope you can relax now x

Stassi · 15/09/2020 21:24

So happy for you @Sussexbysea any specific info you got from the results?

Sussexbysea · 16/09/2020 06:23

@Stassi

Apparently the reason I was classed as high risk in the combined screening was because of the 3.5mm fluid at the back of baby’s neck.

My initial risk was 1 in 12 risk of baby being born with downs. But the NIPT came back with 1 in 9700 chance of it happening
