I’m not sure why i’m even posting as I have read every single post in this section of MN over the last few days looking for reassurance.
I’m 37 and 17 weeks pregnant with my first baby after a twin miscarriage at 9 weeks last year. At my 12 week scan baby wouldn’t cooperate so I couldn’t have the combined test, but the sonogroher told me the NF was way under the 2mm mark. I opted for the quad test at 16 weeks as bloods couldn’t be taken at my scan and my results have come back this week at 1:15 chance of baby having DS.
I want to be clear that DS is by no means the end of the world for us. I have a 10 year old niece who has DS and she’s amazing; it’s just a different future for us than we imagined.
I’m just wondering how bad my bloods actually are as the levels don’t seem alarming to me, but i’m not a doctor. If they don’t signal DS what else can they mean? My midwife was very vague about this. My results were:
AFP 0.85
HCG 2.09
Inhibid A 2.03
UE3 0.64
I’m currently waiting for our harmony test results which I know will make everything clearer, but the more I read about the inaccuracy of quad tests, the more I wish i’d not bothered having it.
Any other mums of a similar age who had high chances of DS after their quad, only to get good Harmony results?
I know someone else’s outcome may be very different to mine and I have a 14 out of 15 chance our baby will be unaffected, but i’m just looking for any kind of reassurance!
