Did you get an “inconclusive” NIPT result?

Hi all,

I’ve been anxiously waiting for my Harmony test results since I had bloods taken last week at 10+1.
I’m carrying twins so I specifically asked the private consultant I was seeing if that wasn’t too early. She said no it would be fine so I trusted her experience. Blush

She called me tonight to say she’d just received a report that said “inconclusive”, she seemed to say this was just due to low fetal fraction but now I feel uncertain and my mood has gone south lol!

Have you had an “inconclusive” result? What happened next for you?

Thanks in advance! Xx

I didn't have exactly the same thing but the test failed quality control first time. They said they had enough fetal fraction and so put it through again which thank fully then passed (the machine broke in the same week so not sure if that was anything to do with it). Could it be because you are carrying twins so are struggling to sort out two lots of DNA??

Yes I did at 9 weeks. Had it repeated at 13 weeks and got a low risk result.

Sorry, it was due to low fetal fraction. Single baby

@Liveforholidays

Thanks 👍

I’ve requested to actually see the report she was sent because knowing the wording might help me chill a bit! Right now I’m unsure if it really was about the fetal DNA % or if my mind inserted that reason into the conversation lol!

Did you actually do a second blood draw or did they process the second vial of blood?

I did see that twins can have a smaller fraction each so if 10+1 is borderline for a singleton maybe that makes sense.

It was a very odd situation. I only found out about it because after 1 week I decided I couldn't wait any longer and phoned up the sonographer. She explained that the machine had broken and they didn't have any results back from the day I had my blood taken. She said she'd ring the lab up for me anyway. They just said it had failed quality control. I did go in to give more blood but according to my report they didn't use it. If I'd not phoned up I'd have never known.

Just to update because it bothers me when you’re looking at threads and they have no conclusion!

I got my results a week after a redraw at 12+0 👍

This time the fetal fraction was just 4.8% so it must just be normal for me to have hardly any!

All three trisomies came back lowest risk 1 in 10,000 and the sex is indicated as at least one boy (can’t say with twins if boy/boy or boy/girl).

So there you go, just too early and nothing bad going on x
