12mm NT measurement

Just had my 12 week scan and have been told that baby's NT measurement is 12.5mm. They took blood for the screening test but the consultant was in a meeting so couldn't speak to us about it. Home now and she's just called and basically said because the measurement is so high they won't be able to get a screening result anyway so bloods were basically pointless and even if they can it will definitely come back very high risk. She said "baby looks very poorly" and that the fluid has spread into the lungs and chest which isn't good. I'm absolutely devastated.
No idea whether I want to have further testing or what to do. Just feel so lost.

@HungryPanda92 I’m so sorry. It’s a horrible decision to have to make. I’m glad that your hospital can do the surgical termination and so quickly as well. I completely understand the feeling of just wanting it all to be over. Try and get through the weekend as best you can. Take care of yourself and if you have any questions about the termination process at all I’m very happy to answer them x

@HungryPanda92 I’m so sorry. It’s an awful, awful position to be in :(
Glad you managed to get things organised relatively quickly. Hope tomorrow goes as ok as it can, will be thinking of you.
Sending love x

Hi all. Everything went well yesterday. Felt like a very long day with tears on and off. Today I honestly feel numb. Feel a little like a weight has been lifted but I'm waiting for it all to hit home. Baby was a little girl which I found out on Friday. That was difficult to know especially before the procedure. Overall I think I'm just glad it's over but I do really miss my little baby. Love to all Flowers

I’m glad it went ok @HungryPanda92. I had very similar feelings, I felt totally numb afterwards. Have you been signed off work? I got signed off for two weeks and I’m glad I took it all as it did hit me at random times throughout the two weeks and I felt very emotionally fragile. Now I’m starting to feel stronger.

Take care of yourself x

How are you doing @HungryPanda92?

HungryPanda92 · 08/08/2019 22:00

Thanks for your message @DinoGreen. I'm off for the month. Got a holiday planned from the 18th. My mum was already going and booked me an extra ticket. She thinks it'll help getting away from everything for a bit. I haven't really cried yet since Monday. I don't really know how I'm supposed to feel.
I'm glad you're starting to feel a little better.
