Deciding whether to have the Harmony test?

Hi,

Hoping someone can offer me some advice. I just got my BFP and I've been reading about Harmony but I can't decide whether to go for it or what and see what NHS results come back with. I am 39 so I am expecting them to naturally come back on the higher risk side.

I'm not worried about the cost of the Harmony, I'm just not sure if I am over-stressing about it or whether it would actually be a good idea given my age?

We would make difficult decisions based on the results of such tests and I can't help but feel the earlier we find out the better?

I had my NHS testing last Tuesday and the harmony on Saturday. I'm not sure which results I'll get first but I wouldn't have relied on a low risk from the NHS testing really, I feel I can take more confidence from the harmony. If harmony is high risk I'll take it from there.

Thanks all. I have booked my test for mid of July, when I will be just coming up to 11 weeks. Just need to get through the next 6 weeks without going crazy. Might end up booking an early scan for 2 weeks time just so I know it's viable as I am super stressing about it all.

I asked on a local FB group last night about booking appointments and scans etc and apparently, it's been a real nightmare getting anything booked in so I don't want to leave everything in the hands of the NHS.

Quick update - I got my results this morning and all is well! Such a relief and less than a week since I had the test. I would definitely recommend it. I still haven't got my NHS results but at least if they come back high risk I won't worry.

Oh and I also had an early private scan at 9 weeks and would recommend that too!

I had it, I was 40, now 41. Totally worth it, we are now 26+1. Harmony came back 1/10,000. I’d have never got that on combined test!

My NHS results would have made me so stressed and I’d have probably needed CVS or Amnio. Harmony was a no brainer.

That's good news @mistermagpie.

I was considering a private early scan. As it turns out I had a massive bleed yesterday after sex so ended up at the EPU. They wouldn't scan as only 5+1 but did HCG and it came back at 14,500 and so they will scan me on Monday. No more bleeding since and no clots or anything. Hoping it's just an issue with my cervix. Just a bit concerned now that HCG is so high?

Thanks @Megan2018 - I am definitely feeling more sure about getting it done after reading everyone's stories. I understand it's not diagnostic but I think it removes a lot of the need for amnio and CVS - and a lot of stress!
