Femur length drop

Hi,

Has anyone had to be induced early as their Fetal femur length has dropped off the usual curve (not quite below the 5th percentile though). I've had 3 growth scans now and the femur length has dropped in all of them. Roughly around 1/2 weeks behind. All other measurements are fine! Haven't been given much reassurance and not sure what this all means!! I'm back in another 2 weeks to see what's happening and go from there.

TIA Smile

Hi @Fruitbowl1990 - I'm curious to see how you're getting on as my little one is also measuring with small femurs, off the chart, and it's caused me no end of worry x

Hi @AliceSt , I'm going back next Monday for another scan! So will keep you posted x

Hi @AliceSt , so had my scan yesterday, they said they weren't worried what so ever. As long as the AC is growing to scale and following a line then it's all good as apparently that's the most important measurement .

My partner and myself aren't exactly the tallest (5ft 3 & 5ft 8) and I just obviously produce smaller babies! My DD was 7lbs 13 at 16days over due.

Hope this brings some reassurance to you! I really don't think scans are that accurate these days anyway.

Good luck!

X

Thank you so much for the update @Fruitbowl1990, it's made me feel a lot better. Fingers crossed all is ok for me too ♥️

Hi @Fruitbowl1990 - I just wanted to update you as I often trawled these threads and rarely saw an update after baby had arrived. So my baby's femurs weren't even on the centile chart at a 34 week growth scan. I worried and panicked and obsessed like you wouldn't believe. He was born on Wednesday at 39+1 by ELCS, and is just absolutely perfect. He was checked over by a neonatal doc at birth and nothing concerning was picked up. He looks perfectly proportionate and doesn't seem to have any chromosomal abnormalities, so it seems that all the worry was for nothing. Hope this helps you or others as I think it would've helped me during the peak of my panic! Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and the pending arrival of your lovely little one 💙

Ahh @AliceSt that's fantastic news. Always endless worrying being pregnant.

Thank you so much for updating me, definitely reassures me.

I wish you all the best with your new bundle of joy and a speedy recovery. X

We had exactly the same as the previous poster- ended up being induced early after multiple scans showing the long bones, especially femurs, we’re completely off the chart. I was sick with worry and couldn’t enjoy most of my pregnancy. Baby was born perfect, in proportion, just small! He is now 7 months old and has caught up, going from 0.4th centile in length to 25th. Xxx

@Theoriginaldramallama @AliceSt

A little update!
Baby Reuben was born today via c section (didn't want to come out himself).
And he was absolutely perfect, in fact he was 8lbs 6 and was estimated to be 7lbs.

Hope you all enjoy your new babies 🥰.

Best of luck!!

Rachel x
