awaiting cvs test results for chromosomal abnormalities

Hi, please tell me if I have posted in the wrong place as I’m very new to this..

Myself and my other half are awaiting our CVS (Chorionic Villus Sampling) results as we had a reading of 1:5 risk of Downs Syndrome and 1:77 of Edwards or Pataus. We were really shocked by this.

The NT reading was 3.8 only 0.3 over the higher end of Normal, the HCG was low and the PAPP-A was Normal. So only two out of the three tests were abnormal.

Has anyone had experience with this cause I was thinking it would al need to be slightly wrong of the risk was higher..

Thank you in advance!

On no @CSL90 !! What a massive pain and a horrible couple of weeks for you :( I hope they get the amino results to you on time FGS. Thinking of you. I've been there xx

CSL90 · 25/02/2019 19:45

Thank you for all your kind messages! I’m just frustrated that it’s taken this long for them to realise they haven’t got enough!

We should know the initial results for Downs, Pateus and Edwards 🤞🏻 By the weekend.

I’ve never wished my life away but the last month I have wished were over.. not long now..

Love to you all xxx

I got my results very fast so you will do. Not long now! Big hugs for tomorrow xxx

CSL90 · 28/02/2019 08:03

Morning all,

Had my Amino on Tuesday so now just waiting results again. Hopefully the quick test will be successful this time as they took a little bit more fluid than they needed to.

Could anyone tell me the shortest time they waited for their amino results? I just want all this over and done with now so we can start planning for the future

Thanks in advance xx

@CSL90 - I didn't have an amnio, but did have a cvs on a Monday and got the results on the Thursday - I actually called them as was going mad (so can only imagine your stress right now) and they had my bloody results! We were fortunate in that it was good news but I was pretty annoyed at the time they hadn't phoned me as soon as the results were in. But of course they would have had many women to call - not their fault that the waiting is all-consuming.

Did they say you'd get the results this week? I would imagine getting them by tomorrow should be realistic.

Sending so much love to you xx

CSL90 · 28/02/2019 08:45

Thank you for replying @nervousFTM

They said 3/4 days but sometimes they come back sooner and they said they would ring me as soon as they were in. But I can’t help the feeling that I need to ring them. Just for my own sanity really and the reason that you have given..

They took more fluid than they needed to to make sure that they could do a quick test so I’m praying they were able to

Thank you

@CSL90 ring them, honestly do not feel bad about doing that! Xxx

Petitprince · 28/02/2019 09:52

Yes, ring them. I did and they were very casual about it all. "Oh yes, all normal. Do you want to know if it's a boy or a girl?". I have no idea how long they'd had the results before I'd called.

Randomposter · 28/02/2019 10:03

Hi op,
I had the cvs as the m/c risk was the same as Amnio at our hospital ( .5 % ) & wanted to know ASAP.
I had my results within a week. 😊

CSL90 · 28/02/2019 15:07

I’ve had them back and ALL is ok!!! I’m over the moon!!

@CSL90 we did the same :) and had a baby girl. It was an amazing surprise! When are you due?

CSL90 · 01/03/2019 14:39

@nervousFTM I’m due the 19th August! So I think I’m the only one praying for a not to warm summer x

OP posts:
nervousFTM · 01/03/2019 14:47

So exciting! I was due late October but my baby arrived 5 weeks early in mid Sept - I was pretty pregnant over that summer! I'm also hoping for a less intense one this year so we can keep baby cool Grin

Hope you have a wonderful weekend celebrating your good news xx
