Nt 4.2 mm and trisomy 21 risk was given

I m 37 years old and my nt came out 4.2mm at 13 weeks of pregnancy,this is my 6th baby,I had aminocentesis done and my results of fish didn’t came they said we have to wait for detailed report now which will come after one week and I m hell worried that why the fish results didn’t come out what’s the reason behind it.
My Sonographer gave me 1:20 ratio of trisomy 21
Can anyone help me what’s happening
I have no history of d s kids in my family
Plz if some one knows something about it I would really appreciate

Hi, it sounds like youre going through a lot of emotions right now, with a lot to take on board. Have you seen the Downs Syndrome association website? There is so so much helpful information on there. I have a family member with Downs Syndrome and he is one of the greatest joys in our life. Hope ypur midwife can support ypu with finding out more, the downs side up blog is worth a look too.

I would really recommend having a look at the Arc website. I also found their helpline supportive. Keep in mind that you have a 19 out of 20 chance that the baby doesn't have Downs. If you do get bad news make the decision that's right for you. Poster above has given some helpful links but of course those sites don't tell the full story.

As a parent of a child with Down syndrome, I would recommend not googling and waiting to find out your results and taking things from there. There is a lot of out of date, negative and scary information online about DS and in my experience it really isn’t all doom and gloom (there are much worse illnesses etc which aren’t screened for during pregnancy which your baby could have).
