Struggling waiting for NIPT results for high NT

We had our scan tuesday and I'm going crazy waiting for results. I so hope baby is okay. I'm so worried :(
We're seeing the consultant tomorrow and they'll have our combined results which they told us will be awful as the NT was 5.1.

Yeah we've had the NIPT done. It was done Tuesday after our scan.
I'm not feeling hopeful. I really hope the consultant has something positive to say tomorrow but I doubt it x

A lot lot of people on here have had high combined result and NIPT has come back ok :) I know it's very hard but try not to worry. I hope today goes well, let us know how you get on if you feel you want to. Sending hugs x

The NIPT/Harmony is really accurate so they might wait for that. The normal screening goes more in age and stats and stuff where as the Harmony looks at DNA of baby so you'll know more when you get those results. Mine came back in 4 working days so they should be with you over next day or so. The midwife called with mine x

We don't know much more, as expected. Have another appointment Monday to get the NIPT results and have the amnio. We have a 1 in 5 risk... which was actually better than I thought but doesn't really mean anything as the NT is so high.
She did another scan and it's still as high but she said that's not really what she was looking for. The baby looks fine so far otherwise.

I think the other things they look at are nasal bone and perhaps if there’s fluid anywhere else.

It could go either way so it’s just a waiting game- a very anxious one at that. Hope it goes well for you x

I’m sure you know this but if your nipt is low risk you won’t need an amnio

@Fatas they suggested we have it either way because the fluid is so much that it could be indicative of another chromosomal issue that the NIPT doesn't detect but amnio would.

I thought that too. I am worried now as my midwife said if I had the NIPT I didn't need the combined test. I am worried maybe they have missed something with the neck measurement

@LittleDoveLove what were your results? If the NT was fine then they wouldnt be so worried.
It's only because our NT is so big. It's completely obvious so don't worry x

@Treaclepie19 we didn't do the combined screening because they said the NIPT was more accurate so if having that no need for screening. We had the scan but not that element.
They said if combined results come back high and then NIPT comes back low risk then that's fine which is why I thought they tested for same thing. X

@LittleDoveLove Yeah that's fine, the combined is useless because it's just adding your age etc to your NT.
The amnio would test for lots more syndromes though. They did say we don't have to have it but since the NT is 5.1 or more they recommend it as it could be a less common syndrome.
I didn't mean to worry you, sorry. I'm sure if they were concerned they would be recommending an amnio like with us.

Did you have the nipt or harmony? I wonder if the harmony can test for more?

Harmony, they didn't give neck measurement at scan to me as that forms part of the combined screening where they do bloods and neck measurement. The scan dated him and they check over stuff but I'm not sure what the measurement was. I'll ring and ask tomorrow I think to see what it was. Hopefully all of yours will come back ok :) x

If they didn't say anything then it's fine.

I've just had a phone call from fetal medicine. Our NIPT results are back and its good news so far. Highly unlikely for downs, Edwards or patau.
Obviously we're nowhere near out of the woods but I didn't expect that at all. I cried on the phone to her. We have to still have the amnio Monday and scans for a long time to check the heart but its such a step forward.

@Treaclepie19 that’s such good news! That must be a big relief for you. Hopefully the other tests will all come back clear as well and then you can relax a bit.

I really hope they do. Getting positive news is making me fearful for waiting 3 more weeks and then finding out something is wrong but I need to try and keep positive.

I'm so pleased though, I'm in shock.
