I'm very stressed. I have been given a 1 in 4 chance of downs on nhs test due to high hcg and low papp a and a nt of 2.7. opted for harmony test anxiously waiting result. has anyone been in similar situation and had good news.

There have been quite a few people posting on here with similar risks recently and the majority seem to have had good outcomes. I was given a 1 in 5 risk of Down's (NT of 3.8 and I'm 40, no idea what my bloods were) and have now had the all clear.

Did you get a detailed scan of baby when you had the test? If they didn't pick up anything abnormal that should be a positive sign. If you didn't have a scan, that's fine. Try not to spend all your time worrying.

I do know what you're going through, I agonised for days over what I would do if baby had Down's. For some people, bringing up a baby with delayed learning is simply not an option, but if you're not sure then there are a lot of people on here who have very positive experiences of having babies with Down's. You can also call ARC for advice and support.

I hope you get the best possible outcome Flowers

I feel for you, all we want our babies to be is healthy. Please don't panic about your baby having downs it isn't like it used to be a child with downs can go on to have just as normal and fulfilling life as any other baby.

These tests are no where near accurate. I know people who have had the test been given the all clear and there child has had down syndrome.

Just focus on trying to focus on looking after yourself and your baby. I know it easy go say and a lot harder to do but try not to stress.

I'm sure someone will come along with better advice and support. I just didn't want to read and run

Thankyou for your replies. I was told there was a nasal bone and the baby didn't have a flat face. Just hoping to get the results today. x

Based on the excessive amount of googling I did while waiting for my results, a nasal bone is a very good sign. I hope you get your results soon xx

My chances were 1 in 6, and my baby doesn't have downs

I went through this last week - 1:5 chance but there was also a heart condition that 70-80% of babies showing this usually have downs, plus no nasal bone. We had CVS but the sonographer basically told us in his opinion the baby did have downs (he was going on what he’d seen plus the bloods). He turned out to be right. So I would say you’re in a better postition that we were. The Harmony test is v accurate for downs too so if you get the all clear you can relax. Wishing you all the best. It’s a super stressful time and a roller coaster of emotions. We found it best not to talk to many people, as almost everyone has a moral opinion and it is different when you’re in the situation. Sending love to you.

@max7807 I ended up phoning in for both my CVS and NIPT results (patience not my strong point!) and both were the good news I wanted to hear. So don't worry if it takes longer to get your results x

Nightmanagerfan · 01/05/2018 10:18

@max7807 hope the wait isn’t too much longer. I’m sure they won’t mind if you call again to check.

max7807 · 01/05/2018 18:32

I phoned the clinic today. I had my test done with babybond. They phoned the lab for me and said I would find out the results tommorow afternoon. x
