Low Paap-a, VSD and amnio test

Hello,

Just want to talk to someone. I had last monday my detailed scan where they told me I had low Paap-a hormone and due to it baby is small, head measured outside the scale to the small side.
Went for another scan yesterday and size was good however I am 22 weeks and they said it looks like it's 21 wks by the size. They did ask about downs test, but these came back as good, 1:3500. On top of that start looking at the heart and found a small hole, tomorrow have another scan with cardiologist to confirm if it is VSD - Ventricual septal defect. They also said probably I will need amnio to rule out downs or other syndromes.
We are at a loss. Staying at home untill tomorrow as can't bear anyone asking at work how the scan went.
Anyone with similar issues? We are hoping for the best but getting ready for the worst. We do have a 5 year old which is healthy and waiting for the baby sister so much.
How to deal with everyone asking around? My mum is saying not to say anything to anyone, but I feel if I say how it is I do not carry all the stress alone, ir helps out to talk.

Hope you’re feeling ok today. Try to rest up if you can and take it easy. It will drag I know until Tuesday but hopefully all will be Well. Crossing fingers for you

I am basically doing nothing, just sitting or laying all day. Bored now a little bit.
My colleague suggested to stay at home and not go to work untill I know the results to avoid any questions. So not sure yet what to do.

Just see how you feel. I did go in but nobody apart from my boss knew. It helped keep my mind off things but had to find somewhere where I could get phone reception (very patchy where I work) which wasn't ideal

I gave hospital my work phone number which goes directly to me as we are also struggling with network issues at work.
I don't want to stay longer at work though director himself suggested to stay at home, but somehow feeling I need to start living rather than stressing out.

I know what you mean. It can feel like you are stuck in your own little bubble and the rest of the world is living normally. Can you go in and go home early if you don't feel up to it?

Elektringa · 17/03/2018 15:32

Yeah should be no problems to go home if I would feel bad. Will see how I feel tomorrow. Today sometimes good and sometimes it looks like I don't have energy and my heart is overbeating for few seconds. Baby is kicking so strong as well.

Glad to hear it. Hope you are managing to stay relaxed I know the waiting is awful

Elektringa · 20/03/2018 17:32

Hi. Good news! No evidence of abnormalities! Was such a massive relief.
They are still testing for any heart issues and will have results later on.

Oh I’m so thrilled for you!!!

Elektringa · 20/03/2018 20:40

Thank you! We are very happy.
I just hope all will go well for the rest of the pregnancy and there will be no further issues.
When you go through this yourself you realise how it is stressfull and how many parents have to face challenges like these every day.

Fantastic! Are you going to have regular appointments to keep an eye on you?

Elektringa · 21/03/2018 12:32

Next one is in 7 weeks and then they will tell me. I am still a bit worried about the size and heart but hoping all will go well.
Interesting thing all my nails changed, they have like a ridge on them which is a sign of zync deficiency but I am on 150% daily allowance for zync therefore do not understand..
maybe will call midwife just to be on the safe side.
