Please tell me I'm being silly

Hello! I'm 31 and pregnant for the first time Smile due on Feb 15th

I've been reading these threads for a while and finding them very useful but never posted.

I'm a naturally anxious person and a massive worrier so just looking for some reassurance really.

At my 12 week scan they couldn't do the nuchal scan so had quad bloods at 16 weeks and had the results yesterday, it was low risk so I should be happy, and trying to be but the risk was 1/533 for downs , higher than the baseline risk for my age, and Im not reassured as a lot of people seem to get risks in the thousands! I think my HCG was high at 1.91 and inhibin (?) was a bit high as well. In two minds on whether to pay for a NIPT or just accept its low risk and forget about it (easier said than done as it's on my mind all the time now!) hubby is more relaxed about it and ideally don't want to put myself through the worry of more tests etc.

Guess I'm looking for reassurance and to tell me I'm being silly! Also any stories of similar results and what you did?

I got 1/500 which was a bit of a shock because I was only 27 when we conceived and I was expecting 1/1000 or something like that

Needless to say, our daughter was born completely healthy, 1/500 is a teeny tiny chance. Please don't worry!

I'm 33, my results came back as higher risk for Downs, 1:110. We've decided not to have any further testing and enjoy the pregnancy. The way I see it is it is just an increased risk, there's no definite outcome and we wouldn't terminate even if it was Downs so I didn't want the stress of any further tests.

Only you can decide what to do but your risk is very much in the normal range. Is it worth the cost and waiting time for the result of a harmony test?

Thanks! That's reassuring...it strange if I'd had a letter saying you have a 99.8% chance of everything being fine I probably wouldn't be worried, it's the 1 in x lol.

Genuinely wish I'd never had the stupid test 😂
