Nuchal fold 10.7 at 22 weeks :(

Hi had my 20 week scan where my babies nuchal fold was 7.3, they then referrd me to foetal medicine where they did another scan and nuchal fold had reached to 10.7mm at 22 weeks. I'm so worried. I have a genetic disorder however nuchal fold is nothing linked to it. The babies measurements of heart, head, kidney, face etc are all fine it's just this one nuchal measurement that is concerning! I now need to decide if I want to go with amnio test. The consultant said it could be what you have or it could be nothing! I'm so worried, major head ache and can't sleep any advise ? Still haven’t had the amnio. My midwife doesn’t really want me to do it but she says if I need it for peace of mind I should wait until 33-34 weeks just to make it safer. She said I don’t need any more scans but she booked me in for a scan at 31 weeks to see if the thick fold has resolved. She thinks it will have and then I won’t want to bother with the amnio. We shall see! I’m just a ball of anxiety!

I'm currently 30 weeks. I talked with my midwife last week about how I'm still feeling anxious. She really thinks that I have nothing to worry about. She said that after the clear NIPT and the clear fetal echo, there is no reason for any other medical intervention or testing here. However, she sees that I can't stop worrying, so she's getting me in for an extra ultrasound with maternal fetal medicine next week to see if the thick fold has resolved. She thinks that it will have and I will stop worrying. If I'm still worried, she said she will refer me for an amnio. She wants me to wait for 33-34 weeks to do it, just in case I'm the 1/900 with complications. That will minimize the risks to the baby.

For the record, I was going crazy with anxiety so I just had the amnio. FISH came back clear and the procedure was simple and easy. So in my case, my NIPT was correct, even with the thickened fold at 20 weeks. My baby is just really chubby.

Full karyotype came back completely normal.
