Low Papp A - high risk for T21

I had my 12 week scan yesterday and have been placed at high risk for T21 - 1:15.

My results were:

NT: 2mm
Hcg: 1.1 mom
Papp A: 0.29 mom
Age: 35

I've had a cvs today and am very anxiously awaiting the results.

Has anyone had similar results from the combined test with a happy outcome?

Hoping for good outcomes for all. Low PAPP-A is also associated with placental function so even if things go well starting low doses aspirin may be worth starting and 3 weekly scans and dopplers from 26 weeks should be offered

Hi Tumtimes. Keeping everything crossed for you. When do you expect your results?

I've started on the aspirin but at the moment can't really think beyond the cvs results. Just so very scared and sad.

I was 1:61
NT 1.8mm
PAPP-A 0.27
HCG 1.15
Age 38 at the moment 39 when I'm due.

Went for a harmony test just over a week ago (a Thursday night) and got the results the following Tuesday evening. All 3 came back as 1:10,000 which is the lowest risk in the scale they have.
Screening nurse has put on my notes about the low PAPP-A and said the consultant I'm seeing next week should be recommending growth scans and extra monitoring. Screening nurse did say that it was the low PAPP-A that was pushing my risk factor up (although I would have been high risk anyway given my age.
Hope you get good news like I did!

Thanks InNeedOfABrew. It's really comforting to hear some good news stories. I'm still feeling pretty bleak at the moment.

Hiya just wanted to wish you the best of luck with your results, I had a very low Papp A of 0.18 and had extra growth scans. Nothing untoward was ever picked up. I found I was given very little information about my results and my midwife/consultants seemed pretty dismissive of it so it did lead to an anxious pregnancy looking anywhere for information! In the end i had a very healthy little boy, who is currently snoring away in my arms.

HopeintheAir · 15/03/2016 21:33

Thank you so much. Luckily I've heard that I've got the all clear from the cvs so that's a huge relief.

Congratulations on your healthy little boy!
