Does anyone know whether you are offered an ultrasound at the 8 week initial booking appointment with a midwife at University College Hospital?

Thanks Grin

It's unusual to be offered a scan routinely that early. People do have 8 week scans but it's normally if they are considered high risk or have had problems with previous pregnancies or repeated miscarriage.

No, it's mostly form-filling and possibly some blood-taking. Scans are in a different department from midwife appointments.

No, there is no medical need for a scan before 12 weeks for most pregnancies. However, I really liked my booking appointment at UCH, it was long and very detailed, and they organised it on Saturday, so it is easier for a partner to join.

Thanks for the info guys. Had a mc 2 years ago so just for peace of mind I will get an early scan but will just need to pay for it privately. Thanks again
