Harmony Test - Your reviews

I am based in Swindon and looking for somewhere that does the harmony test. Preferably NOT in London as I know there are quite a few places there but I 'd like to hear those too just out of interest. I 'm after your experiences, your views and any prices if you can share! Thank you in advance xx

MUMS in Solihull does it if you don't mind a trip to the Midlands, the clinic is only a couple of miles from the motorway exit into Solihull. I was happy with them - but it was about £585 including initial viability scan. They do weekend appointments. Been there twice, though only for Harmony, early last year I had doubts re viability and sadly viability scan they do before taking your blood showed no hb (still had to pay just for that scan though as you'd expect, £85). The Dr (believe it was a Dr) who did it was very nice though and gave advice on nhs follow-up and consultant I might want to seek referral to. This year viable, bloods taken and result in 2 weeks as expected. On request they also checked the sex chromosomes were normal but didn't tell us the gender - though we had a near miss here so if you don't want to know the sex be sure to be clear on this! They offer reduced rates on further scans if you've had Harmony with them, something like 20% off their usual rate for 18-20wk scan I think? Google MUMs and you should find them.

We agonised over whether to have Harmony but thought nhs likely to come out high risk for Downs if only due to my age in which case we'd likely seek Harmony in preference to amnio (though mc risk of amnio really quite low just not wanting to risk it then having had mmcs in 2013 & 2014). As it turned out for us Harmony said 1 in 10,000 risk & few days later nhs 1 in 290 - still not an increased risk (lower than would expect on age 40 alone), so if had just had nhs might not have gone for Harmony subsequently. But the fact that dates-wise I could have Harmony slightly earlier than my nhs test meaning the results would come back around the same date persuaded us to just do it instead of having nhs first, of course you could take that approach though and just see what results the nhs gives then decide, though nhs won't check the other 2 trisomies that Harmony does. I understand that a few nhs hospitals are trialling Harmony, cost-wise a real shame it's not more!

(40+5 today so not yet found out whether they were accurate or ~false negatives, fingers crossed)! Best wishes xx

Blood test done. I'm now in the 2ww - it feels like waiting for the results of my pregnancy test again! haha! except this time its abnormalities and sex.

I have an awkward baby and my placenta obscures everything making measurements tricky so pics aren't great.

The sonographer was very kind and honest. She told me not to get another 4d scan as my placenta would always mean they could see nothing! Silly placenta!

I had the Harmony test in Bristol at St Michaels hospital. Cost £500.

I know you said not London, but I had mine at the FMC in Harley Street, highly recommend it there. Worth every penny of the £400.

I had the harmony test done - low risk for major trisomies but high risk for triple x syndrome. Triple x Can have mild symptoms or be benign - affects 1 in 1000 women. If I had known they checked for this I would have asked not to receive the result for this. It has caused massive amounts of worry over something that may never present any symptoms! Research it fully and be very clear on whether you want to know about triple x, kleinfelter syndrome or Turner syndrome.

Sorry to here that lcoc, I thought harmony only tested the 3 main trisotomies, did you have the Panorama test?

No farfallarocks - it was definitely the harmony test. Its just really a of warning for people - ask about the chromosomal abnormalities tested for and be sure you want to know the answer before the test.
If I could go back I would have said yes for Edwards, Patau, and downes and no to all the others.

Thanks for that, I was not made aware of that when I had the test at the FMC, results tomorrow so will see, thanks for the warning and I hope all is well with your baby.

We were offered the choice of testing for the sex chromosome abnormalities but decided against it as didn't want to know sex of baby and were more concerned about the others. Wonder if you say yes to finding out the sex they just go ahead with other screening

Just to update, we came back with very low risk 1/10,000 for everything and we are having a boy!

The only results we had were the 3 trisotomies and then the sex.

I can highly recommend Fetal Medicine Centre, amazing scan, so detailed and nothing like the NHS one we had previously with our daughter.

Hi, this is my first post :) we had the Harmony Test in Basingstoke yesterday (£445) as my tests came back high risk with 1:32 Downs risk. They had space for a scan and blood test when we went to the hospital to discuss our options. The lady who did the initial scan said looking at them (having identical twins) she suspects they don't have Downs or the other related syndromes but if we wanted to go ahead with the test we could. Relaxing environment and lovely nurses, so are now waiting for the results.

Hi surprise twins - I hope your diagnosis goes ok, and congrats on your twins.i also got a chance of 1 in 34 for trisomy x I'd be interested in hearing how they explained the probability to you if you can remember. I can't get my head around it because if the rate of false positives is less than 0.5% then surely a positive result should be 99.5%

I got my results and I was deemed as low risk which is great. The whole Harmony process was great and in glad I did it. Unfortunately I've now been diagnosed with TTTS due to the size ratio of my babies so have had the laser surgery in a hope to save them. Just waiting to see if it's works now, had no idea having a baby was so stressful x
