Hello
After finding a NT of 4.1mm on Friday, my blood test has just come back and revealed my combined risk is one in five for DS.

I have gone from being excited to finally tell people to feeling horrible and like I'm in some awful purgatory.

The midwife said the blood test actually seems not too bad but the high risk is based mainly on the NT.

I'm so, so heartbroken. I know nothing is certain as yet and I have elected to have the CVS so that will be another hard wait. But I'm preparing for bad news.

I feel guilty, I feel heartbroken.

Fifty shades, as odd as it might sound sharing my experience makes it more real to me which is something I'm working a lot on atm.

If I can help anyone, even if it means they feel less alone at one of the hardest times in their life then something positive will have come from my daughters death. I'm desperate for her to make an impression on this world, even if that is through me sharing my short time with her.

I imagine the disparity between the scans will be linked to quality of the scanning equipment and knowledge/training of the person scanning you.

I have just found this thread and I would like to say thank you for sharing.

I am in a very similar place to you Fiftyshades. Had a high risk result from the combined screening at the beginning of last week and a CVS on Thursday so awaiting results on Monday/Tuesday.

FiftyShadesOfGreen4205 · 08/03/2015 08:23

Kitty, she is a part of you and is making her mark on this world through you. I hope that doesn't sound trite. For her all too brief time with you, she was (and is) loved. Being loved and remembered is extremely precious and what everyone wants. Flowers

twoMs welcome to the club nobody wants to join Wink

Please stay on here and come back if you want to for support. I have found it helpful sharing with these lovely people and also writing down my feelings.

We have both had utterly shite weeks and I totally empathise. Good luck for the results x

Thanks for the welcome and same to you. Why can't all weekends seem to go so slowly...

FiftyShadesOfGreen4205 · 08/03/2015 22:20

Oh tell me about it. I feel sick

Thinking of you all today waiting to hear or getting test results.

I hope they come back negative for you x

Choccyhobnob · 09/03/2015 15:41

I keep checking in to see if you have had your results. I hope they are good and you're just off celebrating x

FiftyShadesOfGreen4205 · 09/03/2015 16:26

Still no phone call Brew

Oh bloody hell fifty, that's rough.

I was told that the screening midwives tend to call after 5 as often that's when both parents are around. We only got ours in the morning as they rushed them through in time for our pre-booked consultants appointment.

Keeping fingers crossed for you x

FiftyShadesOfGreen4205 · 09/03/2015 17:05

I keep thinking they're not calling because it's bad. I'm not making much sense.

Thinking of you fifty.

FiftyShadesOfGreen4205 · 09/03/2015 18:56

Still nada. Hopefully more answers tomorrow. Thank you all for the kind thoughts xx

Oh no, how awful to have to wait longer.

Did they say definitely today? They may be double checking the results, they have to do that sometimes.

Give them a call tmrw morning to just check when they can get back to you, sometimes hassling gets the lab working a bit quicker.

daluze · 09/03/2015 19:15

I had my CVS in UCH and they called as soon as they got the results (my risk was 1:7, clear CVS). The results must not be there yet, if they haven't called... Fingers crossed for you, and your second scan is much more reassuring! The wait is excruciating....

FiftyShadesOfGreen4205 · 09/03/2015 19:25

I have been vomiting with nerves and I've lost 5lbs since last week. It's so bloody stressful. The midwife at UCH said she'd call on Monday but I guess as the cvs was thurs afternoon the results may not arrive until tomorrow anyway.

Kitty, I am going to badger them in the morning!

Daluz, I'm pleased to hear you got the all clear. Smile the wait is horrible and while I think it's normal to have a feeling of dread I can't help reading the worst into every single thing.

I hope your result is a good one Fifty, limbo is a horrible place to be. X

KittyandTeal · 09/03/2015 19:38

Ah they may well have been hopeful that the lab could rush them through.

My amino was a weds pm and we didn't get the results until the Monday (ours were on a rush as I was fairly far along at 21 weeks) so I imagine that Thursday-mon is a very tight turn around. I'm sure they'll be in tmrw x

FiftyShadesOfGreen4205 · 10/03/2015 13:07

CVS clear- though sample could not test for 18 so will await full results in three weeks. Though nothing in scans til now would suggest as much. Obviously on the fetal medicine path for the next few months but I am so relieved.

Thank you everyone, in particular Kitty, for your support, advice and kindness. Flowers and for sharing very personal experiences.

Good luck to everyone awaiting results xxx

Choccyhobnob · 10/03/2015 13:29

That's great news Smile

KittyandTeal · 10/03/2015 14:34

Oh my goodness, I'm so relieved for you.
What great news. They'll keep a close eye on you for a while bit fingers crossed for a stress free pregnancy from here on in.

I'm so pleased for you x

FlightofFancy · 10/03/2015 15:50

That's wonderful news - I've been distracting myself from my issues by worrying about you. Must be the day for it, as have also got a clear CVS back (though other issues here so not a complete green light for us).

FiftyShadesOfGreen4205 · 10/03/2015 16:24

Now I can go back to moaning about pregnancy like everyone else Grin

Flight- congrats on the clear result anyway- I hope the other issues can be sorted x
