I posted before about a delay in results for a harmony test, the result has now come back inconclusive. I have decided to have more bloods taken, despite there only being a 65% chance it will come back with a conclusive result. I am now 18wks pregnant and due my 20wk scan next fr

Sorry, posted too soon.

Next Friday. I am trying to avoid the amino but not sure if I will have to have that eventually anyway.

Wondered if anyone else had to have extra bloods taken and their experience etc.

Just want someone to share my concerns with and a hand to hold!

Thanks

I think a certain percentage of tests do come back inconclusive due to some difficulty processing the blood rather than because there is any doubt over the result. I think most people who repeat the test then get a result back. I have been thinking about having this test. Can I ask why you decided to have it? Did your combined test come back as higher risk?

Did they say inconclusive or failed? I had two failed harmony tests there simply wasn't enough baby dna in my blood to test ive known others who have failed the first but have had a result in the second. From everything ive read about the test it will either give you a positive or negative result saying inconclusive gives the impression the result was in doubt which seems wrong and gives you unnecessary worry.

Thanks for the replies. Reassuring to know some people have had the same issues.
Gunwalloe...Without wanting to be too nosey or cause upset just wondered what you did after the failed result if anything?
I was initially told there was a delay in the test results then told the result was inconclusive as there was not enough DNA. Though slightly different than not having enough baby DNA so a bit confusing. I had a blood test to do nifty at first but the labelling was wrong on the sample so the consultant doing it said he would do the harmony instead. It has been 4wks since the initial test for nifty and with the delay I am just so anxious to get a good result so we can relax.
I had a low risk from the nhs nuchal test but it was only just in low risk (1 in 160) and I am nearly 36 so just wanted to be sure that it was low risk. We have a 3.5yr old son and very little family support so need to be informed as much as possible.

I had gone for the harmony test pre nuchal as I was a bit paranoid about my age (35) and wanted to know asap if there was any risk. As it turned out my nuchal results were 1 in 5095 so I was happy to leave it and not go for further tests. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Thanks for the info. In hindsight I should have gone for the harmony sooner. I didn't realise you could do it from 10wks.
I guess it still might have failed though so I wouldn't be in any better position.
If I had a higher nuchal result I wouldn't have considered it.
I will see how the 2nd (or really 3rd bloods as they took 2 samples in the first one so you would think one would work!!) bloods turn out and hope it is ok so I don't need further testing. Thanks for the replies.

Good morning ladies,
After 2 long weeks of waiting I've just heard that my Harmony results have come back inconclusive. My doctor has said I can have them redone or I can have the amnio tomorrow. I don't know what to do and am very upset and stressed.

My ultrasound NT scan came back low at 1.2 and I've had two scan that have shown the baby has no soft markers. The sonographer described the baby as perfect on the ultrasound.

So now I'm worried - so I retest and wait 2 more weeks or do the amnio with a risk associated with it?

Does anyone know why the tests come back inconclusive and what the chances are of getting a result a second time?

Your help and stories would be so very much appreciated. Thanks ladies!!
