Could anyone tell me about the amnio process?

I've got an amnio booked for Monday and am feeling apprehensive about it. If anybody has had one, would you mind sparing a minute to tell me how you found it. Was it painful? How long did it take? That sort of thing. Thanks in advance

Flowers DH kept my it's a girl all oK pager message for years. (You had to dictate pager passages to a real person. It took a while to think how to briefly phrase amnio results, without puzzling the typist).

Goodness, yes I remember trying to dictate a pagers message to a friends pager whilst at uni, after one too many drinks. Those operators must have heard it all, lol.

Thankyou everyone for your kind messages. Our children were so excited at the news, and were amazed at my rather obvious bump! Quite how they haven't noticed up to now is beyond me, and we had lots of nice (if suprised) reactions from family and friends. It's all starting to feel real now!

Grin and there was me thinking everyone was too young to remember pagers.

DH had a perfectly good early mobile, but security refused to let them have them at work.

Hope the rest of your pregnancy, birth etc goes well and enjoy sharing the excitement.

That pager message is 16 today!

Great news!

Did you find out the sex? I had great fun with the amnio result for DS3. My DM didn't like the fact that I kept finding out the sex from scans and that they always seemed to be boys Angry and would say "well you'll have to wait and see, they don't always get it right". So after we had the amnio for DS3 I delighted in telling her "yes, it's ANOTHER boy, and we do know for sure this time, the geneticist told us from chromosomal data!!!".

Have a happy healthy rest of your pregnancy Thanks
