Termination at 18+2 due to multiple health problems

Hi everyone,
I have been posting in the pregnancy board about my story so far as it's been a long drawn out process, our Nuchal measurement came back as 5.4 and bloods of 1in2, we went on to have an amnio which failed so 8 days later another amnio, finally some results came back just after Christmas which were negative for downs and the other syndromes but unfortunately a problem on chromosome 11 which he inherited from my DH but made it lots worse (DH is fine, just a carrier for the dodgy chromosome) it turns out to have multiple syndromes with intellectual Brian function being one of the biggest, he will basically be born brain damaged and stay that way, they are all shocked he's survived this long! So this morning I am booked in to start the termination process, I've had a terrible nights sleep, worrying about what will happen and how traumatic it will be, I would love to hear stories of the termination process and how everyone coped.
Xxx

I'm so sorry. I don't have any experience with this, but bumping your thread so hopefully other posters will see it and reassure you. I hope everything goes as smoothly as possible for you Thanks

So sorry to hear this
I had a TFMR at 21 weeks due to an extremely rare heart problem with our baby
I was induced and had to deliver our little one .
It was the hardest thing emotionally I've had to deal with into life so far but the midwives that day were so caring and made all the difference
I think the day of the termination I was in total shock , no tears but it was days and weeks afterwards that it really hit
What kept us going was that we made the des idiom after expert medical advice plus we felt we could deal with the hurt and sadness rather than put the hurt and pain onto our little one who would have had a very short hospitalised life
Have you got plenty of support x If you want to PM me about anything please do xx
Sending hugs xx

Hi Hanzym - just replied to your message on my thread. I don't have any experience of this myself but I know others on this board do (some of the threads have people's experiences of both medical and surgical terminations which I personally found really useful) so have a read.

Really sorry you're going through this. Life is terribly shit sometimes. Its not fair and there are no silver linings to this situation. But better times are ahead. This must be the worst bit.

Sending you lots of positive thoughts.

Hi Hanzym, I just replied to your thread on the pregnancy board but didn't realise the TFMR begins today (different time zone so I get mixed up.) Just wanted you to know I'll be thinking of you on this terrible sad day. Stay strong Thanks Thanks
