early pregnancy test tomorrow at epu

I found out I am pregnant even though I have been on the coil. After a useless urine test and wasting 3 days waiting for results I had two blood tests (the second 48 hours after the first) at the GP. Tomorrow I am going for a scan to determine if the pregnancy is progressing normally and to make sure it is not ectopic. I believe that if everything is ok they will try to remove the coil but there is a small chance of miscarriage. I tried to find out what the "small chance" is but cannot find any information anywhere. I suppose they will be able to tell me tomorrow at the epu but I am so worried that I thought I would ask you lovely ladies in case you knew?

I hope the baby is ok, where it should be and the coil has dropped (apparently it can happen) or is somewhere that it can be easily removed but I worry so much.

My oh has a friend whose wife got pregnant with a coil, she ended up having her dd early , the baby was fine and just needed a little bit of help in the beginning. I don't know if they removed the coil or not.

I'm due for another scan tomorrow, last week the sonographer could not find a heartbeat - thinks it was too early. Pregnancy in the right place, and coil still in place right next to baby

Some scary midwife said she doesn't think the coil can be removed which freaked me out but since then I have calmed down a bit.

My boyfriend was conceived through the coil, his mum had it removed at around 12 weeks....she didn't know she was pregnant! She had it removed and pregnancy progressed perfectly! That was 25years ago so I'm sure they have perfected their methods even more!

Hoping that you had some good news today.

Firstly the good news: We have a heartbeat! They do measure me less than I thought though?
The visit was quite disappointing though as they are still saying that they believe that the coil should stay as it is? I had to insist to see a doctor, and when I did she treated this as the most natural thing / nothing to worry about / I'm paranoid thinking there are risks in keeping the coil! Then, when I asked if there is anything I need to do they said no, just to let the midwife know at my booking appointment? Not sure I am comfortable with this, but don't really know what to do either. Thinking of booking an appointment at my GPs to see what she says ( on a previous visit she advised me that the nhs guidelines say to remove the coil asap)
Quite stressed about the whole thing, but that gies with the territory fiesnt it?

I'm so glad you got a referral to the epu after the mess the gp made of your initial visit.

I found this interesting reading. It does sound like you should have your coil removed if it's possible for them to do so. I'd perhaps pursue it on Monday if I were you.
