Just had a CVS done this morning as I'm the carrier of a chromosone inversion and needed to know if little one has been passed it. Just wanted to reasure any one due the test it really was not painful- more unfomfortable. Test results take around 10 days so wishing the days to go fast. Gonna take things easy for today and then try to keep busy till results are through.

Hi Milkysmum. I had a CVS on Tuesday. This is the second one I've had. I was given 1:14 for DS when I was pregnant with my DS back in 07. The DS result came back clear after 3 days but there was mosaicism, which turned out to be confined to the placenta.
This time I had a lower risk but still highish and I had a MMC last year due to DS - and we've not been tested for translocation.
I agree with you - the procedure is not painful. The local anaesthetic hurts a bit (but only briefly). It's the emotional anguish of waiting for the results. I'm at home today waiting for that phone call, trying to think of something suitable to do - ie useful but not too taxing!
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you if you'll do the same for me!

Fingers crossed for you for sure!

I got a neg result for DS this afternoon - phew! Rest of result coming in a couple of weeks - probably about the same time as you. Best wishes.

Just got results of CVS today. It's good news- although baby has inherited by chromosone inversion they are just a carrier as I am and will be perfectly healthy. I could cry (and did) I'm so releived.

Milkysmum - good news for both of us. The rest of my CVS results were clear. Mind you I was so convinced I was having a girl when I found out I'm having ds2 I was quite shocked!
