how long do Nuchal scan results take?

I had Nuchal scan & bloods take yesterday at my 12wk scan, but forgot to ask how long it would take before I found out the result - is it a few days or a few weeks? (I wanted to wait until we got the results before telling anyone, but am not sure I will be able to hide my belly at toddler swim class for much longer!)

Were you given your ultrasound report? That will have the nuchal measurement on it. If you aren't given the blood results on the ame day, it used to arrive in the post 2 weeks later (2 years ago) but it all seems to have changed now. Try posting in pregnancy and see if you get more answers?

At my hospital it was two - three weeks. They sent the blood off somewhere else for processing.
Very irritating really. I wanted to tell people too but didn't feel I could.

I had mine back after a week, but did go private.

I had to take my report & give it to pathology to send off with the blood tests. I did look at it, but the figures meant nothing to me, there were a few graphs & my "x"s were below the 50% line.

The sonographer said the nuchal measurement "looked fine", so am not too worried (I figure someone would have come in to "talk" to me if it had looked bad), but don't know if the measurement or the blood tests give more info (why do I never think of these things before I go in?!)

the test as a whole needs to be done with the blood tests and the nuchal measurement combined. Either one on their own is not the full test. They will test different hormones and then put all the info together with your age into a programme and basically have a one in something risk. It's not comclusive but it will give you a risk level. Mine was 1:80 for example and an amnio later came back clear for chromosoal abnormalities for the things they tested.
