I have now reached my painful decision, can anyone explain what happens when having a termination please?

Awful I know but after alot of thinking I now believe that having a termination is the only way forward for me and my children.

I will be 6 weeks soon, does it make any difference, what is the procedure? do i have to have it removed medically?

I am so so lost i don't know what is going on anymore

Sorry you're going through this.

It is good you're so early on (in terms of procedures, at least).

Under 9 weeks you have the option of either a surgical or medical procedure.

Surgical is usually done with local anaesthetic, takes a few minutes and is very straight forward. You may experience some cramping, may be no worse than period pains.

Medical procedure involves taking two lots of medication (either a day apart or morning then afternoon. This basically induces a miscarriage and you will be at home when this happens.

Surgical is less likely to be prblematic - everything is removed and once you leave the clinic (probably after an hour or so) it's all over. Medical is good if you dont want to go through a procedure but has a slightly raised chance of not workin (in which case you'd have to go back for the surgical procedure) also can be quite scary to go through the cramping and bleeding at home.

Either way you need to see your gp or fpc to get the ball rolling as it can sometimes be a slow process to get your appt. Unless you're going private then you can go direct to Marie Stopes.

I do think you have to check with your local clininc, as to what they offer.

I know that some clinics don't always offer a medical ternimation even at 6 weeks. I know of someone who had a surgical procedure at 7 weeks under general.

I feel that the surgical procedure, under general anaesthetic would be the least distressing option for you.

A friend was in this position recently, and chose this option at 7.3 with BPAS. Although sad, she recovered very quickly.

Thank you everyone, I am going back to my doctor tomorrow to discuss all of this I just hope I don't have to wait to ling cause I have awful awful symptoms that are now really getting me down. This was the one thing I said I would never do in life and here I am ready to go ahead with it, I know it is for the best the situation is just to wrong, this child would bot benefit from being brought into such a mess and my mental health is not to great either, one of my biggest mistakes in life let's just not hope it becomes one of my biggest regrets, however u look at the situation it is so so sad I hope I can be forgiven I never wanted this

you wil be forgiven, things like this are such a huge shock, and enough for you to deal with, you mustn't feel you won't be forgiven. If you feel you have to put your children and yourslef first then you are doing the right thing.
the person i was talking about earlier was me, it's a very sensitive subject, and i know how hard it is weighing up everything. I went through hell for weks trying to decide. It was something, like you that i never imagined happening to me in mylifetime.

I have been to the gp and i have now called the clinic i have to wait till next monday to have the initial appointment where they do a scan etc, I just hope i dont have to hold on for much longer cause the sickness and headaches are terrible, i never knew they could be this bad, I am truly struggling to look after my children right now.

I was in a state too, i do understand. I went private in the end as the wait on the nhs was so long i couldn't bare it. It was soul destroying,but as soon as it was over i knew i had done the right thing for me and my family.
