Hi !

I am a mum of 2 kids (3 and 1) and I’ve really struggled with anxiety/depression since becoming a mum. It’s been pretty heartbreaking! I was prescribed 25mg sertraline and I was on it for 8 weeks. Felt like myself again, was incredible. But past 2 days I’ve felt all panicky again and I spoke to GP there who recommended upping to 50mg. I’m going to start tomorrow, kinda scared because the intital few weeks on sertraline at 25mg was hellish. Is it a bit easier an adjustment? Or should I expect to ride out another few weeks of hell? It’s so so hard especially with such tiny babies around. Would appreciate some encouragement please!

hey, i've just had my sertraline upped from 100mg to 150mg due to lots of reasons that I won't go into lol. it's been three days and i'm feeling ok and am able to still get on with things, just a bit spaced out. hang in there and know you will feel better soon x

Oh you’re an angel! Thanks so much for getting back to me 🥲 so glad to hear you’re able to get on with things but so sorry you have a lot on your plate atm…hope meds kick in soon and you feel yourself again ASAP! What a rollercoaster?? Parenting is hard enough without the added anxiety/depression!!

Hello, just wondering how you got on with the upped dose? I’m about to be in the same situation myself but had such a rough time on 50mg to start with, then came off and then dropped to 25mg but need to up it again.

Aww I’m so sorry to hear you’re going through this! But thankfully upping dose, in my experience anyway, was nowhere near as bad as initially going on to sertraline. When I started sertraline I had the worst insomnia and feared that would return but it didn’t. Just felt horribly spaced out for a few days and depression got a bit worse, but I felt overall a lot more manageable. Especially knowing that it was just for a few weeks and then i would be back to myself. Have faith that it’ll work, this too shall pass 💛 you are so incredibly strong!
