If you had PND/A, how long did it last?

Just that really. How long?

I'm interested because my child was born over 2 years ago. So many people have said it'll get better / you'll look back and see how far you've come / you'll find joy etc. But, I'm still wholly completely stuck in it.

I'm not sure at what point it just becomes...who I am now? which is pretty depressing.

I've not experienced but just wondered if you'd had any help? It's definitely not something you should have to live with long term Flowers

I didn’t realise/acknowledge that I had PND until DS was about 9 months old. I was medicated for about 3 months and did CBT for 2 months (at the same time). That got me to a better, functional place. Lasted for about 6 months, then needed therapy again, this time for anxiety. I had talking therapy for about 3 months for that, during which I properly addressed some issues from my childhood. Since that I’d considered myself pretty much recovered (DS is now 3.5), so just over 2 years in total, or 15 from first treatment.

Everyone takes to treatment differently, though. Some need longer, others recover quicker.

I’m not the same as before (neither should I be, as that person squashed everything down and refused to acknowledge), but I feel surer about who I have become.
