Has anyone been referred to mental health units by their midwives? I'm wondering what to expect from an assessment, and whether to put myself through explaining all my painful family history and experience with bipolar depression with yet another under qualified nurse. I have support from my partner and I see a psychotherapist regularly, and my last mental health assessment at the hands of the NHS was brutally insensitive and ultimately pointless, hence my reluctance to go through it again. Does anyone have experience of what it's like going through this process with the NHS when pregnant, and specifically any thoughts on whether you ever access any specialist antenatal mental health care, or if you are just bounced around between duty clinicians and administrators?
