PND - worse in the evening?

I've only just made the mental link for myself but my PND is under control in the day and suddenly worse by the evening.

I suddenly feel like I can't cope with my son: I feel overwhelmingly exhausted, irritable and can't face doing bedtime (he is difficult to get into bed anyway, doesn't go in his own cot most of the time, and is a fussy feeder). But I just feel helpless and useless in the evenings!

Anyone else?!

Hi @MissB83 Just found your thread. How are you getting on? Just to say I have a 10 day old baby and can feel my anxiety symptoms playing up - definitely worse in the evening, I think partly as I begin to dread having another sleepless night.

I found evenings bad thanks to a sense of doom about how little sleep I was going to get that night, on top of a long day on little sleep from the night before.

@Tubbykins glad it's not just me. I find a lot of anxiety is about the anticipation / fear if that which is uncontrollable.

I feel exactly the same! When the nights draw in I look forward in anticipation of what the night will have in store for me. Daytimes seem ok because I can see civilisation when I look out the window but the nights seem lonely. My baby is 2 weeks today and I’m breastfeeding which is taking some getting used to but I’m setting myself milestones and reminding myself that time will pass, he will grow and this won’t last forever x

@Yas0000 Hi, just to say I'm 7 weeks in now and it does get a whole lot better re: sleep / nights, though I'm yet to experience the famous 4 hour stretch! Hoping it won't be long now...
Good luck x
