Postnatal depression in correlation with type of birth

I'm currently in year 12 and doing an extended project qualification (epq) to see if there is a correlation between type of birth and risk of postnatal depression. Anyone willing to complete this survey, I would be extremely grateful!!

I shall do it first thing in the morning, I suffered PND and had a traumatic birth.

Great subject for some research, I think it's a very important subject.

I think you need to adjust your answer options, or make the question allow multiple answers - for example in question 5 it's possible to have a birth that's a vaginal water birth at home, which is three separate answers in the survey.

Thank you! I agree, I got lazy though and decided to put other as there are so many possibilities!

I think Question 7 should have an additional option. I feel the type of delivery I had didn't have any impact on the likelihood of developing PND and I would have liked to have been able to select 'No impact' rather than 'Don't know'.

And I agree with a pp that some questions need to be able to have multiple answers. I wanted to tick natural vaginal birth & home birth & couldn't do both.

Done! Have had 2 traumatic births, and pnd twice. This is a very interesting topic.

I would be interested to look into this also. I have often thought about c-section and increased PND. Although I was thinking from the recovery time angle.

Done! Good luck.

Completed but I went for other instead of assisted vaginal delivery despite having forceps used on me. I think there are varying degrees of forcep use and I classed mine as other as it was in a full theatre with spinal, epidural, surgical team on standby type thing. That may be wrong but it's how I feel!

I also think that it would be worth considering whether there were reoccurrences when other births were different. My second was ELCS and I had no mental health issues in regards to that, only what was left over from the first!

I entered the info regarding the birth that preceded the PND, but have had another, completely different, birth story.
