do your iron your DH’s shirts and make his lunch? He was telling me earlier that his colleagues wife makes her DH’s lunch etc. I feel bad but I’m busy enough with the kids clothes, work etc (only work 3 days but still)..MIL does EVERYTHING for DIL and get the impression she expects me to do the same for DH. He is getting lazier and lazier, I’ve asked him to mow the lawn for 3 weeks and he never gets round to it, I will do it this weekend instead but he just doesn’t help at all!!!!! I make tea and he never bloody puts the pots in the dishwasher, he koans when he goes to put a shirt on and it is dirty? Should I be washing them?

DH told me something like that about his colleagues wife so I said “oh great are you going to start making my lunch” then and wisely he didn’t say anything.
i have a son and I’m intent that he won’t expect a woman to do everything in his life

Wtf? No, you're not his slave
Moan at him that your favourite top hasn't been ironed and see what he says

Ask him when he's going to start bringing you a morning cuppa, and warming your slippers by the fire. Oh, and a G&T at 5.30 would be nice, too.

Or get him to ask his colleagues what they do for their wives.

And suggest he should have looked harder for a stepford wife.

I work 2 days a week snd my dh is a lazy but lovely man. I send out his ironing and we have a cleaner in once a week.

He cooks a fair bit but actually wouldn't know how to switch on the dishwasher or washing machine.

We had lots of "discussions" about this when we first got together and the upshot was that I'm not doing it all so he needs to put his hand in his pocket AND step up. Now he tries but I have to direct him with some things. But I don't do any gardening/maintenance or car stuff.

Maybe a bit gendering but it works most of the time for us.

Next time he brings it up tell him about your colleagues/ friends husbands who give them regular child free time without complaint, cooks tea every other evening, does the dishwasher daily and does the gardening without being asked.

Of course you don't need to do this stuff for him. There are no dc here, just me and DH. We both work FT.
I do slightly more housework because my job ends at 5 and his includes some evening work (teacher) but he makes his own lunch, irons his own clothes, does his share and does part of my share in school holidays when he has more time.
