To think there is need for such a LARGE security box on tesco Pg tests.

I go in tesco late last night so that I will be less likely to be seen. Pick up the pg test and there is a huge box around the pg test, I look at it think god how I am I going to be discreet with this.

So I start trying to hurry to the checkout, ds age 4 decides he is going to make this as slow as possible.

Everyone I know seems to be out shopping last night for some reason I manage to get to the checkout without being seen despite huge security box and ds attracting as much attention as possible, I plonk the test on the counter still looking around to duck if any one I know comes.

It gets to the checkout lady so I turn around for the first time and the mother from ds has just started a new job as my checkout lady . Why did tesco have to put such a large security box on it that was extremely difficult to hide.

My tesco has them on their own brand cheapie ones too.

Soon they'll start putting them on all potentially embarassing products. Pile cream, tena pants, thrush remedies. Just so they can take great pleasur in having to shout 5 check puts away to the only person who knows how to open the box.

Because PG tests are commonly stolen, people open the boxes and take it items out and put the box back on the shelf.

My tesco has security tags on all the brands. I bought one from there at the beginning of my current pregnancy, thinking I'd go to the self-service aisle (as I'm a regular in there, they all know my face at least, and some of them my name) to be all secret squirrel, but then someone had to come and get the bloody tag off. D'oh!

Saltire · 07/07/2010 08:09

Boots are the same, they have tags of some sort on every pregnancy test availiable

slushy · 07/07/2010 08:11

Our boots doesn't, and I understand the box but the dvd security box is roughly the same size the pg security box is about 4times bigger than the pg test box.

So are we allowed to ask?

MathsMadMummy · 07/07/2010 08:15

are you pregnant then?!

Numberfour · 07/07/2010 08:18

well? we're waiting....

DuelingFanjo · 07/07/2010 08:20

it varies from Tesco to Tesco here in Cardiff depending on the type of area it's in. Think those where people shop in their PJs

Saltire · 07/07/2010 08:21

Well the Boots I used to wrok in had a lot of problems with young teenage girls stealing pg tests.

slushy · 07/07/2010 08:29

It was negative slightly . But we were not trying just would have been a happy accident . I would have struggled really as dd is still young so for the best .

www.accessdiagnostics.co.uk

They do most of the brand names, or you can go for the cheap ones (which work just fine) for a fraction of the price. And no embarrassment

MathsMadMummy · 07/07/2010 08:42

I know how you feel slushy - did a test a while back, knowing I couldn't cope with another baby - was still disappointed though!

hope you're ok

slushy · 07/07/2010 08:42

I work for a supermarket, and you wouldn't believe the amount of used tests and empty boxes we'd to find in the ladies loos. In our shop they are only available over the counter at the pharmacy.

slushy · 07/07/2010 12:47

I suppose it is mostly scared teenage girls who steal them because they don't have the money to buy one and don't know how else to find out.

To be honest it didn't annoy me as such I found quite funny that everyone I knew was in there and the lady on the checkout was a mum from the school, I was laughing coming out .
