Football is not coming home

Never been a fan of football, I am patriotic but not fussed about the football. Their playing was dismal, it was painful watching them play. Even before the World Cup I knew that they were not going to win, they never do since 1966. That happened ages ago, put it to bed! Forget it now, move forward! Sports pundits are quick to blame Fabio Copello, but come on they were not good before with other manages, they are just rubbish. Overpaid and overpampered.

Now our soldiers that's a different story, they represent our country with pride, they get low pay and put their lives on the line, they do us proud. At least the England players are coming home, some of those soldiers wont.

has Fabio been publicly blamed?

pigletmania · 28/06/2010 13:47

Well when my dh was watching the footie the commentators were talking about Fabio getting sacked and that he was not very good, and its being talked about in the news and on radio. It was mentioned in the DM, I dont know what the final outcome will be.

I think he's seeing the FA. God, they were embarrassingly awful. The money they earn and they can't kick a frikin' ball into a net . Apparently we have no new talent coming up so ... football is never coming home with the world cup in my life time then

pigletmania · 28/06/2010 13:53

I agree Fran, the same thing will happen with the next manager, and the next one and so on. Wont make a blind bit of difference.

Fabio , the FA , the players sending more of our brave soldiers to war.

GypsyMoth · 28/06/2010 14:07

the older players looked tired.....and Rooney was a disgrace,he's over rated imo anyway! no room on the pitch for anything else with his ego taking up so much room...

ZZZenAgain · 28/06/2010 14:09

we are just not really good at it. I think that's the truth.

Trainers always get blamed and there is always talk of them being sacked. I think that is part of the job and I doubt they take it to heart. Sure they are over-paid too

FranSanDisco · 28/06/2010 14:11

I can't believe the media are talking about the disallowed goal as if this was a turning point. The lost by a mile and all their games were pretty poor. The beat one team who were never rated in the first place. I have spent my life avoiding the game and now I have a ds I decided I would watch. I can't get them hours back can I?? I have been proved right - football is over-rated.

ZZZenAgain · 29/06/2010 09:29

it's a lot of big boys chasing a ball about with annoying buzzing in the background really, isn't it?

My dd is enjoying it, learning all the flags, writing down the results on a huge chart, however we are not actually watching many of the games come to think of it.

It's ok to watch when it is fast moving. I kind of get the game now since dd also plays it but those games wherethe ball gets ping ponged about in mid field bore meto tears.

There's always ironing I suppose

Mingg · 29/06/2010 09:31

One baffled American journalist asked the other day: "Why don't English players play their normal game?" Well, their "normal game" is to pass the ball to Torres, Drogba, Tevez or Fabregas... Have to agree with that

GypsyMoth · 29/06/2010 09:44

well we're all ver the disappointment now and ready for the new season....dream teams are being discussed in this household......the match attack cards have been discarded along with the flags.....come on chelsea!!!!

we love the premiership!

Sammyuni · 29/06/2010 09:46

England are not capable of winning the world cup people should let go of that dream .

Not to say it wouldn't be nice but so many countries play so much better.

Cretaceous · 29/06/2010 09:46

Mingg - very good
